I'm sure the "easily pleased" attitude of many Swans fans - that the boys did us proud to fight back, and that 2006 was a damn good year even if we did lose the GF - is not reflected in the players. If it was, the Swans premiership defence this year would have been worse than Port's. Instead, they busted their guts.

So chill out people. The players are trying really hard, the club has got most things right, and it's a good time to be a Swans fan. You can't demand premierships and nothing less.

Let Colless and Roos keep the performance pressure on and fight compacency; us fans should focus on the positives while there are so many.

You know even though Eagles won - I didnt leave the MCG shattered and depressed. A little dissapointed - yes - but they fought back so well and it came down to 1 solitary point - it was amazing to witness. Those of us lucky enough to witness it (considering so many didnt get ticketes) we should be grateful. The fact that the Swans got to the Granny at all when other so called experts wrote them off earlier was terrific in itself. There were cries of the premiership hangover etc - well after a tough home and away fixture they still got there. The Eagles turned up for the GF entire match, and deservedly won it (so shoot me down now!) So bring on 2007!

Like Colless said, in say, 2050 (God willing at least some of us will be here), the club may very well look back on these years and say "the ethos of the early 21st century is what put our club where it is today". (notice that the words "may very well" were used).

We're so lucky to be living it now. Like Wardy, I left the MCG feeling ok (Johnnie Walker probably helped considerably). I was OK with the loss. Yes, it was very disappointing to some, and it hurt like hell for others, but there's really no use crying over split milk, eh? No-one's gunna rock up this week, play a GF and the result will magically change.

I was SO lucky to just be at the GF (with the swans for a change). I have six nephews who still aren't talking to me cause I went to Melbourne and they didn't. Poor kids ... they're more shattered about missing the GF live than they are about losing by one point!!

Couldn't get on here for a few days & haven't read all messages...but a few things I have wanted to get off my chest.
I sort of agree with Roos that 1 / 1 is fair...but I think it is something to reflect on privately. By all means congratulate the opposition as a coach, but don't (publically) go to far down the philosophical road about what is "fair"... you might find people lose interest in passionately following a particular team.
I read that Leo Barry was injured in the 3rd quarter...was it really in our best interests for him to stay on? When uninjured in the first half I thought he proved again that he is a light of other days.
Roos said after the game that LRT had had a crook foot for weeks...he sure played like it.
Yes Ted played well overall...but wasn't it him who spoiled one of our blokes for a mark early on & they kicked an easy goal, & wasn't it him in the last quarter who kicked OOB from not far out...he had that when are ya mum look on his face as he did it (had he already been concussed?).
Kirk terrific, the rest below their best (apart from Richards which is not saying a lot).

I spoke to a few Eagles in Young and Jackson's the next day who were very impressed to have heard Roos say that. I think we were all probably thinking it at some point. Roos was very open in that post-match interview, which I think is great. He certainly wasn't doing a Wooshka who denied that he was ever worried in the 4th quarter that the Eagles might lose (what a goose he is).

I agree on the Worsfold front. His arrogant, monosyllabic answers made me wanna punch him. Thought he was alright - but now I think: @@@@wit.

I was proud of our blokes, showing a lot of heart and ticker to come back well after half time.
No one doubts we were back to out 2000 form in the first half, but it would have been easy to come out and chuck it in and lose by 6-7 goals.

I reckon our guys were spent, stuffed, knackered etc.

To lose a Granny by a point is not to be sneezed at. A Grand effort on every scale.
