I'm simply showing that there are clearly MANY more factors to a poor game than a baby, and baby or no baby doesn't explain performance very well. I mean, Micky O kicked 4 goals the week after his bub was born, and he said he had 4 hours sleep the night before on a hospital floor...

My point is that it's a very long bow to draw. It's a huge "what if". And I think "what if" we kicked a goal instead of a point and then beat them by 4 points, we wouldn't be having this conversation!

Actually, I think the point would have been made win, lose or draw.

Close to bed time for me, so to bring your argument to its ultimate illogical conclusion, would you be happy for EVERY player in the Swans team to have their partner give birth in grand final week? Of yes, you are an idiot. If no, you are contradicting yourself.

It is a 'professional' sport. At any rate he wouldn't have been booted from the team (one of the top 5 in League)- there were more options than him playing/not playing Doyle was given the reigns and responsibility late in the game (and stood up)...and when did Goodes play in the ruck?...it is a GF afterall.

I'm sure he was too. The point is he should have only been thinking one of these things.

3. He didn't miss the game, and it was pretty unlikely that he would have missed it. Certainly less likely than us kicking straighter and winning the game.

Not specifically missing the game...but it certainly would have weighed on him if she had it before (we have proof of this), or after...he's mind was never going to be in the right place and I find it hard to believe the coaching staff weren't aware of it's impact. He's not the first footballer to have a child.

But in the end, as you say, it is all what if's and maybes. Still a better plan may have saved those 2 points.

My conclusion: Jolly had a bad game and the assumptions for why he had a bad game are silly. He might not have had a baby and still had a poor game, as other players did.

Neither said in the lead up that the baby would take precedence over the Grand Final. For Jolly the Grand Final seemed like an interruption to the baby event.

I wonder if he turned up for "Mad Monday"?

I still believe that we could have done without that "baby drama", which proves what I said earlier this year that Jolly is not mature enough. Remember his perfomance at the start of the season? I was saying then that he's probably still "honey-mooning" hence his poor performance. I thought it was funny, now I think Jolly needs to asses his priorities as a professional footballer. I'm not syaing it's his fault for GF debacle, but was major contributing factor along with Jude and Barry.
I hate to say this, but bring Spida in, that should bring Jolly back to earth when he becomes the second ruckman again.

You fail to undestand a) my point and b) that in this day and age every 1% matters for AFL footballers to compete effectively. It all happens at the margins.

If Jolly feels is it acceptable to roll the dice 9 months prior to the Grand Final, in my opinion it speaks poorly of his commitment to the team and his team mates. Maybe he did not think we would make it that far.

I believe that the distraction caused him to play a poor game which impacted on our team performance because his immediate opponent looked a lot more focused and basically tore him a new arsehole.

I think the situation of Leo and MOL are completely irrelevant.

The fact that other players have coped differently with the arrival of a baby is not relevant to the case of Jolly.
