Okay, let's forget opinion about whether he was affected. You are obviously not going to be persuaded and neither am I.

Let's talk about the right and wrong of his actions instead as an employee of the Sydney Swans Football Club.

Could Jolly have KNOWN that it would not affect his performance. If he did not KNOW (how could he) why did he go ahead and do it anyway? What does that say about his priorities.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

Of course he couldn't have known that. You'd have to ask him and his wife why they "did it". And it says that he puts his family above the Swans.

More likely, in common with every other bugger who has had a sprog jump out at an inappropriate moment, he put his throbbing pain in his groin ahead of every other thing on the face of the earth.

Given his improvement over two weeks he should be investigated.

How can you see rooting your wife 9 months before grand final time as putting family above the swans? It's not like he was saving someone. Just getting his end in.

There's no question he played a damn sight better GF day than he did in the first final - hardly surprising as he was returning from injury.

Admittedly, however, that doesn't explain the full extent of Jolly's precipitous fall from grace.

Haha, fair point. Perhaps he simply did his homework and the coaching staff picked up on certain techniques to combat Jolly, and perhaps Jolly was a little jaded due to lack of sleep and a lack of "normal" preparation. I think you'll find that there are a number of factors that contributed to Jolly's worst game in two years. Totally blaming a 50cm, 3.2kg baby over a 204cm, 102kg Dean Cox doesn't seem quite right.
