The bottom line is we won't have to give up anything to get Spida if we wait until the PSD. Roos doesn't want to screw over Hawthorn but I reckon we should do it anyway. They forfeited their right to a fair trade by wanted a swap with Malceski.
I personally don't see Ablett as "untouchable" from a trade perspective.

Hawks forfeited their right to a decent trade by not trading Spida last year - that would have been the best result for both teams I suspect.

We are looking to strengthen our ruck division, not weaken it. Jolly played one bad game in 2 months so now you want to trade him? The idea is to have 3 top ruckmen so if 1 goes down injured we are not left short.

          Hammo is right....

Davis, Bolton, Jolly & Ablett have all proved their worth and cannot and therfore will not be traded... thankfully....

As much as I think I might like to see Spida playing for us (Albeit that it's against our no "@@@@heads" recruiting policy), I can't think of a player that was on the field for us in the GF that I would trade for him....

In his day.. yes... But it's not his day. We all seem to be forgetting that he was out for ten weeks this year with injury and he's 33.... that's pretty damn old for a ruck man and the physicality of the position is clearly starting to show!!!

Yes I am serious.Who would the Swans give up to get Spida ?

I can't think of one player

If you mention the names Davis,Okeefe and Bolton J and also Malceski you can forget it and Matthews although he may be used as trade bait is part of the leadership group and won't be traded and I doubt the Hawks would want him anyway

I know who we can trade.Chambers

Are you saying Everitt is worth more than Bolton or O'Keefe? or that we wouldn't trade them?

I think you are getting confused.

We probably have 20 players the Hawks would be interested in getting their hands on but we don't need to give up any of them.

I can see Sydney trading someone like Vogels (to Brisbane for example) for an early second round pick and on-trading our own 2nd round pick to Hawthorn for Spida. That trade would probbaly benefit all 3 parties.

They won't get rid of a player like Vogels who can be groomed as a future defender as he is still young so once again I don't know who they will get rid of

What about Spriggs and Chambers as a double package ?

Mate you can forget about Chambers and people are showing how ill-informed they are by even suggesting another club would be interested.

He showed nothing at Sydney then walked out on us declaring he'd lost his passion for the game. It is hardly an attractive CV and the AFL clubs are not stupid.

Spriggs may be of interest to a club who a) need midfield depth and b) need experience. Brisbane might fall into this category but given his age the Hawks certainly would not be interested.

Vogels is tradeable. Grundy has gone past him the pecking order and it might be best for the player if he can get opportunities elsewhere.

There is a young midfielder who wears no 7 in the reserves and if I was another club looking for some talent in the middle he would be high on my list, Willoughby can play remember he is a dual all Australian at junior level and he has bulked up over the last 2 years certainly an option.
                      cheers Ian

A few people here complain about some of the players offered up as possible trade options, yet there also seem some laughable suggestions that none of our players are tradeable, and they are all worth far more (than just about anything it seems on occasion), and we can trade some of our duds!!

NMWBloods ... don't you just love speculation?
Till Round 1 2007, all I have is speculation!!

No, it's because Spida is an old man now. If we were getting the 27 yr old version it'd be a different story!

You can still get 2-3 good years from Everitt.

I'd rather 10 good years from Malceski or Grundy...
