But how would you have performed at work had that been the reason to miss the births? I would guess that most employers would tell their staff - "go be with your missus, you're no good to us if your mind's not with us", no where is that more true than in Darren's 'work environment' ie the footy field.
Contradicting my above thought - all the reports I read stated that his wife had specifically said that if it came to a choice of anything within her power to decide or affect the timing, ahe would have tried to enable him to play, which, as it turns out, is exactly what happened.
Yes he played a bad game, but he is not Robinson Crusoe, and I'm sure won't be the last to play poorly in a GF.
Get off his case, and move on, would be my advice.
I hear not what you say, for the thunder of who you are.

Since Roosy came to the Swans, we are the home of the SNAG. I cannot believe that the club would expect anything from Jolly other than to be with his family.

He got towelled up by the AA ruckmen, just like every other Ruckman this season (except for Sandi at the Derby).....our midfield in the first half failed to gobble up Cox taps and let the Eagles midfield clear the pack with little contest. Can't blame Jolly for that.

Jolly played - so all those who carried on about him not playing were proved wrong.

If it were me I would have been out of there as soon as possible to be with my family.

ROK couldn't have put it better...."I've lost bigger things than this and I know when I get up tomorrow the sun will still be shining".

I was managing 12-15 staff for last 4 years.

Managing doesn't count. It's someone else' money you're playing with.

When you're paying someone out your own pocket you might look at work the priorities of your staff a little differently.

All of a sudden your precious money becomes the center of the universe, doesn't it?

That's the way capitalism works isn't it? If you have money and want more money then everyone that you pay less than they make for you has to ensure that they maximise that differential.

            I hope you don't have a company...

I guess if we had won by 5 instead of losing by 1 we probably would have ignored it, but it did seem painfully clear that his mind was not at the MCG.
Agree... Hi smind was not on the job. So then should we drag Paul Roos over the coals for leaving him on the field for the game or eevn selecting him??? I don't see that conversation starting!!

He had a crap day yes. But he was beaten by probably the league's best ruckman who coincidently had a blinder.

I'll be more than happy to see him run out in the Swans colours again next year....

                    Dear Oh Me

I was unaware that jolly was the only one on the field on GF day I would be more worried about the star full forward being at a casino leading up to the game and then having the balls to admit it. Leo beaten, LRT beaten, hall beaten goods in patches in contrast glass, embley, Judd, cousins and the list goes on but it was a GF to remember. One thing to remember that we made some crucial error in the heat of the moment and it cost us but it all starts again in 4 months and I 4 one will be there to cheer on the boys regardless of the result lets hope the chardy set sitting behind me at the GF are there if we are not winning I doubt they will be. Be proud it may be a long time before they get there again.

In the words of the great MB see football get football something we didn?t do for four quarters.

His career in Sydney was in Jeopardy minute his face was on front of HS 6 days before GF.

Showed how un-focussed he was on the team goal.

Better to get rid of him. Will be on the outer soon enough.

Maybe he knows that it's nearly the end of the line and wants to get as much media exposure in before he goes ... you know, shore up some media work in life-after-footy!!

I think you're assuming "THEY" have a level of control over what the media does. So now it's Prentiss McCabe & Jolly?
