How can you honestly say that,we only played half a game yet we only lost by a point.Your comment is a load of bollocks.
Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

Don't worry mate, these people are all post-match coaches. They know all the right moves, after the game.

Two points from the half we didn't play (which I have admittedly only watched once):

        1. Persisting with Jolly in the ruck
        2. Being bamboozled by a loose man in defense

If our tactics were better in the half we didn't play then there is little doubt we would have won

            Concur.

If we hadnt had a lame ruckman, and those early shots at goal then there is no way our match day tactics would be criticised.

It was the WCE pressure around the ground and running (which could not have been sustained for 120min at any time) that led to us looking like buffoons. But having said that, with an 'interested' ruckman and players kicking 'easy' shots on goal the game was ours.

            Bollocks.

Swantatsic, my view is merely that some slightly better tactics and match-ups would have reversed the 1 point defecit. I agree it was only one lousy point, but could we not have made up for this by making earlier changes with LRT and Jolly or addressing the Weagles free man in defence?

True it might have worked those tactics,or it could have been worse i guess we will never know.

If I were a betting man I would say the Kangaroos or Carlton.
Here I was, trying to do the big sell, and you guys have to come and ruin it.

I agree that it's fairly unlikely that Horse will still be an assistant coach in 2010 (although that doesn't mean we couldn't ask him to apply from wherever he is). Both Roos and Carlton are highly likely to come up in the interim; but despite his history with the Roos, I'd query whether he wants them or whether he'd wait for a club with better prospects.

They're both the nearest thing in the AFL to basket-cases: not just with playing lists, financially and administratively as well. Taking a job at those places is likely to be a poisoned chalice.

Only if the tactics were "put Kirk in the ruck" and "kick to Wirra more and wear him out".

I'd say they were pretty good!
Our game plan is fabulous - which is why everyone wants to steal our assistant coaches.

Match day tactics are a different matter - and to be honest hardly ever make a difference. Rocket Eade would be one of the few coaches who I have seen out-coach an inferior side to a victory. Most times the better team with the better game plan wins the game.

However, when you lose a GF by a point & when you are consistently within the bee's proverbial of your great rivalry every little bit counts.

BTW, caught some of the press conference with Lyon on Fox Sports. He spoke well, if a trifle subdued. Lots of nice things to say about the Swans. Obviously, "player management" (getting the load of Saints crocks onto the park) was a key plank of his pitch and of his intended focus.

Apparently Nick Reiwoldt burst into tears upon hearing the news of Lyon's appointment

Lyon on SEN apparently said that he is keen on a Ruckman but would not be chasing Everitt if he made it through to the pre season draft - Games? or genuine I wonder?
