Don't go that far Hammo. He's not worth ripping up your membership over. I think (read, hope) I have more faith in Roosey and who he wants in our mix.

I don't think anyone's shown any interest in Gardiner.
I could be wrong (not for the bloody first time!!).

        How sad.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Gardiner a big chance to join us in the PSD if Everitt doesn't work out.

          Just a thought.

Gardiner to the Saints. The new coach needs a challenge.

He basically played the 2005 GF with a broken foot, jezz give him a break. All he needs is a fresh start, simple.

What about Lockett & Hall? they were 2 'hardasses' at the saints & all they needed was a fresh start. Lockett finished his career a champion & Hall will never look back.
Forget about Hall, it's all about Bradshaw

                  Great idea though.
You are right when you say at least it's only Gardiner's behaviour that is potentially harming to us ...
If he was genuine why would he be stupid? All it's saying is that he either WANTS to play footy and is willing to do all the right things to do so, or he loses out. It's then up to him to make the choice to either be serious or lose his contract. if he's serious he signs, if he's not, he walks and is no loss to the Swans world.

All I'm saying is that signing a contract that says "one wrong move and you're gone" is very stoopid.

Legally, it leaves the door right open to interpretation. What defines "one wrong move". It's a "moveable" definition.

Still though, I agree with you 100%. It'd sort out the pussies and pretenders!!

                      Hmmmm....

How about a contract like thus.....

                      $50k base PA
$2k p/wk for ongoing good behaviour
                      $5k per game match payment

That's about $280k PA for the regular season.

Hell, I'll play and not DUI for that much!!

Easy - define the "wrong moves" - e.g. positive drug test, arrest for criminal behaviour, inculding motor vehicle-related offenses - things like that. And even a "bringing the club or game into disrepute" clause - i.e. he does something they hadn't thought of when they put the contract together, but that brings serious bad publicity. On a contract like the one RP suggested it's not a bad idea and if he buggers up, we lose nothing in the end! Unlike Spider who if he gets injured we still pay him several hundred thousand for nothing AND pay for his rehab costs...

You'd have to go through the last 20 years or so and pick up every little indescretion the players had and turn them into one huge contract of what you CAN'T do. There's a 5000 page contract in the making.

                          2. No getting drunk and leaving your car before you hit the booze bus.
                          3. No getting drunk and going out for take-aways at 12.30am.
                          4. No going out to nightclubs and starting brawls at 4am.

... these are just some of the most recent. (Feel free to add to this list kiddies .... it'll relieve my boredom!!)

Whilst I do agree that a contract like this would be fabulous (or probably better is RP's version ... hit him in the hip pocket), either way, it's a legal nightmare waiting to happen.
