    Roos' obsession with his favourites.

"We've got an obligation to Kirky, Leo and Hally to give them the best chance they possibly can of getting the best out of their final years with the Sydney Swans," Roos said.

This isn't just a one off slip of the tongue by Roos now. There are only three players Roos gives a @@@@ about and this is the driving force behind club decisions. Is he firing on all cylinders?

The response to this thread is so obvious I wonder who will say it first...
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Make Goodsey captain for 2007 ... let them all concentrate on their game Roosey.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

I was less than pleased when I read that article. Roos clearly needs to go away for a few weeks and smell the roses.

Has he forgotten that he played over 300 games as a player and never won a premiership medal? Why do some players deserve a medal more than others?

Roos has clearly forgotten his own message that we have "no stars" at Sydney and has elevated Hall, Kirk and Barry to almost mystical proportions.

... at the same time ignoring the dual-brownlow medalist.

Goodes is in his final years of football? Is it curable?

He'll have to take notice when Goodsey is a Triple-Brownlow medalist.

Who will he put the blame on when their game turns crap next year and they finish 10th on the ladder ... certainly not his three little blood stained angels?

again, i think people should relax a little about what roos says to the media, especially in the off-season.
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

It's no fun if we can't "read between the lines" and run with that as the basis of our speculation.

It's off season ... I want my footy back !!!

Ok calm down everyone, you people read one article and jump on it like drunken monkeys, without thinking logically about anything. There are some parts of the story that look bad at first glance, and Roos probably could have chosen his words much better, but i'm sure the message he's trying to deliver is that these particular players are heading towards the latter stages of their careers, and have a much smaller window of opportunity to win another flag, plus they're leaders of the club and that shouldn't be underestimated. It'd look a bit weird if he was saying "We owe it to Malceski to get into another GF to give him the opportunity to finish his career the way he deserves" because he's very young and has a decade ahead of him, the captains don't.

I cant imagine how vitriolic this site would be if we actually had a bad coach.

Thanks Joni, but I dont want a parking lot. Appreciate the offer though.

There's no "reading between the lines" required. Roos has picked up a ruckman with a couple of years left in him to maximize the chances of three of his players to play in Grand Finals. He doesn't name O'Loughlin who is the same age or players who are fractionally younger (Crouch, Matthews). He's not planning any further than 2010 because that's when he's riding into the sunset. I hope it pays off because I will still be a Swans supporter in 2010.

I'd only seriously get narky at the coach if his name was mick maltmouth.
