Originally posted by Sanecow There's no "reading between the lines" required. Roos has picked up a ruckman with a couple of years left in him to maximize the chances of three of his players to play in Grand Finals. He doesn't name O'Loughlin who is the same age or players who are fractionally younger (Crouch, Matthews). He's not planning any further than 2010 because that's when he's riding into the sunset. I hope it pays off because I will still be a Swans supporter in 2010.
Glad someone touched on this.
In O'Loughlin, here is a bloke who came as a 17yo, played through the good and the bad, three coaches, dodgy knees and other injuries, kicked 400 goals, has been in 3 GFs, is a deadset role model, and next year will break the club's ALL TIME games record FFS - but o no, he doesn't get a line, like a few others.
Gee....I wonder if Mick will even bother to play next year....no doubt he'll be shattered.
Rumour has it that O'Keefe is quitting the club because he didnt get a mention. Kennelly was poised to sign for post 2009 too, but he got wind of the article in advance.

Roos should just make Goodsey captain and let him run with it. Then Roos can turn all his attention back to the holy three.
Those three aren't the only players who are reaching pensioner status.
Roosey "should" want another premiership for all the team, or for none of them. Not just some of them. He should make up his mind.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun. Blessedare the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

Can you point me to the part where he says he doesn't want a premiership for anyone but the so-called 'holy three' ? I can't seem to find it.

Roos also said Swans co-captains Barry Hall, Brett Kirk and Leo Barry deserved to be given every chance to win another flag.
"We've got an obligation to Kirky, Leo and Hally to give them the best chance they possibly can of getting the best out of their final years with the Sydney Swans," Roos said.
"Clearly we think we are in a position, as we have been in the last couple of years, to challenge for the premiership, and we think getting Spida to the club is going to help us improve our team."

Yep, he only mentioned the holy three.
Maybe he should have said, "we have an obligation to half our team to give them the best chance....."
They might be co-captains, but IN MY MOST HUMBLEST OF OPINIONS, they are not necessarily the best players out there.

He still didn't say anything about not doing it for the rest of the players, and ig you're suggesting Roos only cares about the three captains then i think you've got him very wrong.
