That's because virtually the only GA for the SCG is the Hill area.
Every other area is members reserve.
Because the hill is being redeveloped (again) the GA is the one which suffers the most.

This would be fair enough. This year the only memberships that are being sold are set-seat ones because of the SCG re-construction.

Surely there should be a provision organised through the club/SCG/Ticketek to be able to purpose a Reserved Seat by paying just a 'seat supplement' for it if you want to watch a match at the SCG.

Makes me feel rather happy I'll more than likely be in Melbourne next season & won't have to be dealing with the chaos that will be the SCG in Season 07. I hate stadiums that are construction zones (even if the end-result is long long overdue).

Bloods, if you go with an AFL membership with a Sydney bias, are you able to get a "reserved seat" membership (similar to my "premie club/full club reserved" membership)?

I'm thinking if I could get the reserved seat, it might be worth it if I wanna go to the GF whether we're in or not (which I normally do).

AFL memebers with a "preference" to a team competing in the GF, get priority, other AFL members (with other team preferences)will get the chance to buy GF tickets only. Not guarenteed access. However, not that much different really!!

I wonder if there is a AFL "sydney resident" membership???

I spoke with the membership department yesterday regarding our seat re-allocation and they were really helpful. No solution as yet, but I understand why and am happy that they are doing all they can to accommodate us.

I also cancelled my direct debit payment (will be paying up front this year) and when I mentioned I wanted a different membership next year I was told that I will be receiving a new 'membership package' in the mail so that I could look over all the information and choose what membership I wanted. The impression I got was that only the direct debit members had received their letters so far since they had to make a decision by the end of the month. I expect everybody else will get them in the next week or two.

I'm a happy girl again now.

Under a normal AFL membership you have the same opportunity to buy grand final tickets as a club member. Under the premium package you can go to any grand final - tickets aren't guaranteed but you are virtually certain. Seats are better too.

I'm sorry my hormone-induced temper tantrums have been keeping you up at night, but I'm glad you'll be able to sleep well again now. I wish I could get a solid nights' sleep, but from all reports that won't be happening again for anywhere between 5 and 24 years from now.

Seriously though, I'd always received such a warm and helpful response from the membership department in the past, so this year when I felt I got little help I felt kinda shafted. I guess I felt it more keenly because of their wonderful work in past years.

Unless you live in Melbourne as a Swans supporter I don't see any worth in having an AFL membership. It entitles you to a reserved seating for any H&A game in Melbourne, but it must be purchased through Ticketmaster7. It's also very cheap as well. I used to have it while I was living in Melbourne to get footy fix every weekend even when Swans didn't play in Melbourne. Now living in Sydney, I'll take up a Swans full membership again.

I?m another one who is toying with becoming an AFL member. The club tells me that those changing to AFL membership can keep their reserved seats, or (as in my case) members reserve seating by paying the club a ?premium? to bridge the gap between general entry and the reserved seat entry. The membership dept said they will know what the premium is later this week.

The reason I am thinking about it is because the AFL membership will save me entry for the Melbourne away and Manuka games I attend ? 5 games minimum for me. Say $150 in the kick straight away. Plus I am nearly always in Melbourne the week after Christmas, and AFL membership guarantees entry to the Boxing Day test.
My premi club membership renewal will be about $380, AFL membership is $290, with a one off joining fee of $250.

So as a Swan?s member, the rough cost of attending games in 2007 = 380 +150 = $530
As an AFL member = $290 + premium + one off $250 joining fee.

Whether I go that way or not will depend on the premium the Swans charge me, and where Silver AFL members come in the Grannie ticket pecking order ? can?t remember if there are classed as premi club or full member. Anybody know?

Also note that there be is a 6-8 year waiting list for full AFL membership (that?s the one that is $400 app PA, but guarantees Grannie and Boxing Day Test tickets at ? price). Only membership available is Silver.
