His average was 10.2 HOs per game, which isn't overly awful considering I don't recall him getting a great amount of time on the ground in those games.
Thanks Stella, it's funny because I don't normally pay a lot of attention to stats, but that one stuck in my mind as I was O/S in 2006 and relied on RWO for Swans news, and all I was reading at the time was how crap Chambers was, then when I saw the stats I thought, holy Cow, his stats aren't actually that bad!

Moral: Never rely on RWO for anything.

Remember he was our only ruckman for most of 2006. I think the workload took its toll by the end.

He'll be back to form soon enough.
Totally agree. Couldn't see us winning the Premiership in 2005 without him. And despite his poor showing in the Grannie last year, we wouldn't have even gone close to making it that far without him last year.

So that's a flying start to his career at the Swans from where I'm sitting.

Except maybe here or here. Did you miss them at the time?

Edit : Note that the AFL stats pages have disappeared (since they changed their website I suppose)

Don't know about workload taking its toll, but in all the discussion about babies and where his head was in GF week, it has got a bit lost that he badly dislocated a finger a couple of days before the qualifying final at Subiaco and that must have had some impact on his performance over those three finals games. Must be pretty hard to protect the hand in ruck contests and even if he was playing with an injection to help the soreness, it is likely to have affected his confidence.

Well done to Darren on a 100 AFL games, has been more than useful in the ruck duties and handy pinch hitter in the forward or back line.

What are his stats for marks, kicks and goals? Jolly is a great #2 ruckman (as Melbourne can testify). Congratulations on 100 games (I really did not realised that he had played so many - must be 50+ - for Melbourne).

My daughter has nicknamed him "thumbly" since GF day, but he is still her fav player.

His best game in ages today - lots of great work around the ground & covered when Spida had a quiet first half. Good effort!

Last week I thought he should have been playing in the ressies. This week I was eating my words, I had him in my best, and that mark he took in the first....pity he didn't convert it for full points.

I think Spida is inspiring a greater effort around the ground. However I'm not sure this is a good thing as he is not a very good user of the ball.

I think you're right on both counts there.

At least if he does more around the ground he can take some marks or compete in marking contests. Hopefully he'll learn to handball more.

I thought his disposal last week was very good for a bigman. He linked well through the middle with handball and showed decent skills by foot, regularly hitting players on the chest with short but rapid fire kicks.

Wasn't as good today, agreed, but he's still probably a bit rusty, notwithstanding last week's performance.
