Exactly. If you looked at our draw before the start of the season, you'd have pencilled in results that have turned out 100% correct.

The only game that was 50/50 was the WC game, and the 1 point score line refelcted that.

I think the home game against Port will tell us where we really are at. Could grab 2nd spot with a win there.

That might happen provided that both Port and Sydney win their next two games which is possible. Port face the two current spoon contenders and Sydney are on the road against the "in-form" Roos and injury hit Saints. A full strength Port Adelaide would be the biggest challenge for our side to date given their great start to the season and certain players in All-Australian form.

I dont know what you are talking about, but for the record I like being at the pointy end of the ladder, because mentally it seems easier to stay top 4 than try to break into top 4.

Melbourne's midfield was close to full strength and they were smashed by the Swans in clearances, especially the first quarter. Melbourne's poor form is as much to do with confidence, tactical as it is with their injuries.

The West Coast loss was frustrating but a loss at AAMI for the Swans is par for the course in recent seasons. Sure we're not up and firing yet but to borrow a well worn cliche, premierships aren't won in April (but they can be lost - look at Melbourne).

With the season looking so tight its important we win the games we're supposed to, so I'll take a scrappy win over a classy performance in the first half of the year. WHich brings us to the next 2 weeks...

Kangaroos and St Kilda will be tough games. I'm expecting us to put in a shocker in one of them and to drop a vital 4 points. The Saints game is very dangerous as our under-sized defence comes up against Reiwoldt and the G-train renews hostilities with his whipping boy Leo Barry.

Or, even worse, we drop a vital 2 points and spend the rest of the season with a good percentage that's irrelevant due to the drawn game.

I agree that both these games are dangers but the Saints defence is pretty shot at the moment, so any problems we have coping with their forwards will also apply (I hope) down the other end.

You still happy with the progress...?

                        So far we have:
                        * Lost at home to understrength West Coast
                        * Lost to Adelaide (whom Collingwood beat by 4 goals)
                        * Beaten understrength and winless Richmond
                        * Beaten understrength and winless Melbourne
                        * Beaten Brisbane by playing one good quarter
                        * Loss to the Kangaroos

So we're now 5th (and could drop to 6th) and only one game ahead of about 12th.

loss to understrength adelaide and loss to kangaroos without their best forward!

pretty average start, i think the last 2 years how we start slow and come good is what gets you through some of these losses. We have had our chances in each loss, just stuffed it with woeful quarters of football which isnt good enough.

We need to start switching it on soon its a very even season. Our next four games will really shape the season we need to win 3 of the 4 surely just to try and get out of this pack of teams on the ladder and try to start to build a gap.

Stkilda at the dome should be a game we can win giving their injuries, but its a game i looked at when the fixture first came out and thought we would lose, they are hard to beat there. We need to win this game now we dropped the kangaroos one.

then we have port bulldogs and the dons. The port game is a lot harder than first thought, the bulldogs are never easy, surely by the dons game we can start playing some winning footy. If we are to be a premiership contender they are 4 games we really should win. Especially the last 3.

Just 4 quarters of consistent footy. Well consistent good footy. Blow the saints away dont let them get a 40 point start thats just rubbish for a team that is meant to control the tempo of a footy match.
Theres not much left to say
