Goodes to contest charge/free to play(merged threads)
Goodes has had his sentance reduced to a reprimand, and will be free to play this weekend... Woo Hoo!
Ed Considine's day out - Round 3, 16th April 1995.
11 Kicks, 13 Handballs, 8 Marks, 1 Goal, 1 Behind, 1 Tackle, 1 Hitout, 3 Brownlow votes (his only votes)

I don't think Goodes' charge will get thrown out, considering the defence is pleading guilty to striking, not charging. He may get reprimanded and be cleared to play, but pleading guilty annuls any chance he had of getting another Brownlow this year.
Could be the bit of luck he needs to get his season back on track.

Was changed to striking rather than charging...
QC representing goodes said argued that the definition of a charge is a 'full bodied bump', whereas goodes only used his arm.

Great to see that he was reprimanded only.
It certainly will help him refocus and do the job we all know he can do
He needed this boot up the backside to wake him up
He is after all one of the best
Go Goodsey!!!!!!
Because it got downgraded to a reprimand does that mean he's still ineligible for the Brownlow right? Or have I been misreading the rule again.
Correct. He is now ineligible to win the brownlow.
Although I do believe he would've been able to still win the brownlow had the points been downgraded to below 100 points.... the problem being that it only became a reprimand after he pleaded guilty to the revised charge of striking.

Thanks for that. I thought it was to do with the early plea but just wanted to make sure with the reprimand part too.
Guilty is one match, minimum, 100 points - The early guilty plea then reduces the points - Once below 100, it is automatically changed to a reprimand.
The exact same thing happened after Bazza's love tap in 2005. He was found guilty, but with the early guilty plea his points reduced to under 100, hence he was also clear to play.

Great news. I also hope that this somehow helps him to improve his current form and again be the champion we know he is.
Occupational hazards:
I don't eat animals since discovering this ability. I used to. But one day the lamb I was eating came through to me and ever since then I haven't been able to eat meat.

Oh well, he's got two already.
