I was at the game on Saturday night (bloody waste of a good plane trip) and it appeared to me that Davis seemed completly disinterested. During our customary fightback, there was a ball up inside the fifty near goal, I thought that it was a perfect opportunity for Davis to recreate one of his famous snaps. But he only seemed to make half an effort to get to the competion. I'm a HUGE Davis fan but he bugged the hell out of me on Saturday.

He's lazy. It really was a soft effort.

It's not true that he simply has to work. He did lead, quite a number of times.

I definately saw Davis in the clear on a good lead Sat night,a couple of times.I feel some players have BBBitis and more than often their attempt to get the ball to him does not come to fruition. It is also noticible that some of the newer players are ignored when they are free as well.Teamwork should be on the agenda this week.

Well, you don't need to be Einstein to realise that kicking to Bazza with three opponents on him is not a good option (seeing as how he often has butterfingers as well). The trouble is we don't have many Einsteins in the team at the moment to realise this...
"Davis...Davis has kicked 2...he snaps from 40...dont tell me, dont tell me, hes kicked a goal....unbelievable stuff from Nick Davis, can you believe this, he's kicked 3 final quarter goals and Swans are within 3 points..."

                  Q. What does your statement tell you?

                  A. If there are 3 players on Barry then logically there should be 2 players free on our forward line.

The problem is our players running into the forward line dont have the vision to be able to spot another player on his own. I wouldn't care if BBH kicked only a couple a game if the rest of the forwards got amongst them and played merry hell with defenders. As many on here have said, we are too one dimensional. Time to mix it up and make the opposition to think for a change.

Blind Freddy can see we need to mix it up a bit. "They" say we have a potent forward line but we are one man happy.

LOL, I often think this, but where are the other 2 players? run off their men to flood back?

Yes, we used to laud our almighty fwd setup, the same one that struggles to kick a hundred points in a game.

I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

And if one wanted to rub things in even more, one could point out that his opponent for substantially all the game, Jess Sinclair, got 20 possessions, took 3 marks and laid a few tackles of his own. So the ball must have been going vaguely in his direction at some point in the game.

Some of the criticism aimed at Davis in the past may have been a little unfair, but I am struggling to find anything defensible in his performance on Saturday.

Yes, but there's more to football than just leads. Applying a shepherd, a tackle, a chase, a simple 1 percenter as well as providing a leads is required. Forward line pressure and trying to keep the ball in there for the team is what he should be doing. Especially someone with his ability.
