hmmi doubt jolly will be as good as cox...at least hes better than jeff white (sucked in melbourne).

jolly is a damn good ruckman but not upto cox's level.

He really was fantastic again today. 3 goals don't tell the story about how hard he ran from half back to be there in the first place on at least one occasion.

AND, well if you don't LOVE a goal out of the ruck then look away. How good was the goal out of the ruck. He's hungry and enjoying his footy more than ever.

Look out BIG COX! Here comes GIANT JOLLIES!

Jolly is an awesome ruckman as long as he has a backup to share the load. His best two years look like being in combination with Ball, and now Everitt.
Rucking all day on his own just takes to much out of him.

I love the way he takes big marks in defense.

After watching yesterday, it looks like our issues in the ruck are now becoming all but bad memories.

It's taken a while, but Spida and Jolly are really starting to gel into a formidable rucking team. Both are getting the taps down and backing it up with saving marks in defence and goals in attack.

And that lack of a ruck cost us badly last year. Very badly.

That had to be goal of the day. And the look of delight on his face said it all.

... the lack of "rovers" is hurting us more.
spida and jolly are getting the ball down, but too many times there's no one there to take it and run.
maybe i'm just being too picky.

At this point in time, with Cox not playing at his best; Jolly, Lade, Spida and White are the in-form ruckmen. Goliath is off his feed as well.
I was wrong about Gerard and his hair.

I wouldn't have been surprised to see him free kicked. I was under the impression that if you take it from the ruck, you must handball or kick it before you are claimed. Jolly was claimed, but managed to fend his opponent off before goaling.

Now I'm not condoning the rule, because no fair minded person could really claim the goal should not have been given, but I sense an uproar would have occurred on this board if we were on the wrong side of that decision/non decision.

                          I thought the same.

Could have been pinged for high contact too on a bad day....

Does anyone know if Jolly's wife is pregnant again?

Seriously though, he and Everitt have combined into arguably the best ruck combination in the AFL. If only damn Hawthorn has traded Spida to us last season. We'll make them pay on 9 June!

I didn't think the tackle stuck for more than a milli-second. I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that the tackle has to actually stick. But you are right, it is a stupid rule. Barry Round would have been crucified under this rule with some of the great snaps at goal he made out of the ruck.
