88% of the time these opinions are way off the mark. The Swannies played great today, and the players who have copped it on here lately really stood up.

    spot on Moggo0,
i wonder where the 'i hate Benny' brigade are hiding lately.
Maybe they could say that they were wrong? But I doubt if that is in there makeup as they wait for the next bad game to bag him.At the moment Mcveigh seems to be the poor victim.

Matthews and McVeigh are the same sort of player. When playing at the absolute best of their abilities and in form, they are worth playing. Anything less and they are a liability and shouldnt be in the senior team until they are back in form.... and shouldnt be selected until they have shown some form.

If anyone thinks that wipes away 1/3 of a year of ineptitude then they are kidding themselves.

IMO McVeigh played to his usual standard and got lucky that his opponent and the opposition in general didnt turn up to play.
You may be right about Macca ,but it might have played him into a little form we hope.

What is McViegh supposed to do? Tell the power to come back next when Pearce is feeling better? It is not our fault the power chose someone not ready to play. the fact mcveigh held one of the great youngsters of the league is all that matters. By your arguement our win in the 2005 prelim. was not great because we beat a team that had more than a few unfit/unconditioned players.
McVeigh did what was asked of him, the Swans won and he will be playing for the next couple of weeks at least whether he deserves it or not.
Additionally with Crouch out who would you put on the speedsters of the AFL? Schmidt, Moore? Actually I reckon Bevan should make way for either of those two.

I am glad we had such a strong win and anyone critical of it should just sit back and enjoy what we have been missing all year.
          end rant.

Interesting that we didn't hear anything out of you, when he was struggling for the first four weeks.

He's going OK at the moment, but hardly setting the world on fire.

My point was that one win doesnt mean we should suddenly stop trying to improve the team through better selection policies.

Appart from LRT (who some would say is borderline top 22 anyway), we were at absolute full strength yesterday. A full squad to pick from. No other team can claim that.

I think you've been a bit harsh on their performance yesterday. Sure, there were some errors but I thought that overall Sydney played very well yesterday and I'm looking forward to watching it replayed on Foxtel today (11am for those of you with pay TV).

                        Thx for the heads up!

On our performance, I'll take that effort every day. That said, Port beat us on contested possessions, clearance & inside 50s so there is certainly plenty of room for further improvement.

Unless the dogs are planning on playing an unfit running style player, I think he will get slaughtered next week on the wide expanses of Manuka.

An average player who is down on confidence shouldnt be getting a game with a side trying to win a flag. Send him to the 2nds for a few weeks.
There's a reason you're sitting on a computer, posting your opinions on an inconsequential internet forum, and NOT in the coaches box next to Roosy. Your opinions are misguided and lack common sense.

I doubt I am the only one who sees the irony in your suggestion that someone who is down on confidence should be relegated to the 2nd's.

The only reason I'm not sitting in the coaches box is because I havent applied for that position

I doubt I am the only one who questions the wisdom of using the seniors for a fringe player to gather confidence over an 8 week period which has caused the seniors to be currently out of the top 8.
