who were worse , us or the umpires, no prizes for guessing.
if we hadnt made 26 clangers i think it was we would have won by a good few goals and the umpiring would never have been a issue.
skills skills skills we had none tonight.Comment

That tonight old me that we have probably slipped a reasonable amount this season. Not to desperate levels but gee if are to beat teams above us in the remainder of the season our finishing has to go up massive amounts.
If anyone has the guts to put themselves through a replay, please check to see how many kicks went over heads and dropped short and went directly to the opposition.
By the way how bad was J Bolton's snap late in the 3rd Q. Jude is also that slow he has 1 forward and 3 reverse gears. Genuine snail tonight.Comment

You are a hard marker Nico. It went forward (not straight forward but certainly not backwards), and the required 15 metres. What else do you expect from an ELITE midfielder. It's not his fault Davis did not have the smarts to read the play and present for the mark.Comment

That was so crap. Brilliant clearance by Buchanan. Puts Bolton in the clear running directly into goal. So he runs sideways and tries to hook the ball (like he often does) and sends it out of bounds. What a load of garbage! I think he is really struggling to have an impact.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Looked to be signs of getting better, but back to the worse from J Bolt no doubt will be retained in the seniors for next week.
Seems like it is harder to get out of the team for the senior players, than it is to get in it for those in the Magoos.Premiers 09,18,33,05

At the game, it was obvious that Essendon were by far the more switched on team. We didn't pay them enough respect and they made us pay.
Yes they never stopped trying, which I acknowledge as it made for a cracking contest, but they still make far too many fundamental errors, for a team that considers itself to be a major contender, and this seems to be the major issue with us right now.
That said, forget all the blue-collar bollocks, I still believe that this is a very good Sydney team (and this is what makes performances like tonight's so disappointing), but how far we progress this year will depend on how much the players want it. However, at 5-5 we're fast entering a situation where our fate will no longer be in our own hands.
*Not to mention Round 1 this year, and Round 6 vs the Kangaroos...I see a pattern emerging.Last edited by Xie Shan; 2 June 2007, 11:36 PM.Comment

b2 should have been on lloyd.
as an aside ... saw lrt in the brewongle bar at half time. gave him a great big hug. he looks very fit and healthy and says maybe two weeks ... if he can get back in.
i say give him his pass back.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.Comment

I totally agree. Tonight's umpiring set a new low. And didnt the Swans crowd let them know at end of the game.Last edited by cruiser; 3 June 2007, 01:52 PM.Occupational hazards:

Davis was surrounded on the boundary line by a few Bombers in either the 2nd or 4th quarter and didn't have enough room to get under the ball without going out of bounds, he leaned his body back and placed a perfect grubber kick between the Bombers straight to a swan 20+ metres away; it ended up in a Kirk poster, the effort deserved better than that. A wag seated near us (it wasn't me!) shouted at the top of his lungs "Get off Nick Davis, that is far too creative. We don't play exciting football here!". I think that sums up Davo in the Swans pretty well.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

I hope he's back for the Geelong game, i'm heading down for that game and i'd love to see him return for it.Comment

Every time it we hit the front and looked to be gaining the upper hand, poor hand and foot skills and stupid frees, handed the game back to Essendon.
Roos/Longmire need to look at the fwd structure as we can't beat a flood if we remain so predictable. What I couldn't work out is why Hall didn't take shots on goal from 45+ earlier in the game.
Hope this weeks selectors (whoever they might be) bring some of the 2s in this week. Their skills couldn't be any worse than what we saw from our first 22 tonight.Comment
