But if Hall wasn't there, that frees up a Eagles defender to take a forward who is playing well.
Anyway, was just making the point sometimes things go your way. You deserved the premiership, just like we deserved to win that match.Comment

I figured those who aren't saying the stuff wouldn't be offended. In fairness, most are saying the stuff though.Comment

Just like we were lucky McPhee runs faster then a boundary umpire.

I know mate, wasn't having a go at everyone. But really, blaming the umpires when you were actually lucky to be within a point is stupid.
They made bad calls all night, for both teams (McPhee's deliberate OOB??). You focus on what you can control. Like your frustration, Goodesy.
Should I emulate you and tell you how to read a fan site and that is with an open mind and understanding that like umpires, fans arent robots all cheering in tune when your desires of what a good cheer or jeer should sound like.
So Paddy, go back to your venemous typewriter and wax on about horses or Bob Woolmer or whatever. The Pain of Discipline is Nothing Like The Pain of DisappointmentComment

Of course they are saying the stuff, this is a Sydney fans site like you said. And they will find all sorts of excuses why we lost. Happens all the time, after a loss. We just haven't had as many as you guys over the last few years.Comment

Well said. I think it was Jude Bolton, on the news tonight, that basically admitted the Swans were off their game from the outset, allowed Essendon to take too much control of the game. There were bad calls all night, even a few I would admit that went against Baz, where he clearly was not at fault. Big woopee. It happens all the time. Goodes will be cited for his hit on Hird, or there is no justice. McPhee was a country mile OOB, no call, but whose to say Davey, mcVeigh, Lucas or any of 15 other players would not have snapped a goal? How about the point that should have been the winning goal, but for "too tall" post padding.
It happens to everyone. Get on with next week, you'll have your hands full with Hawthorn...
Essendon fans should feel as miffed with the umpires as Swans fans. They murdered that game as a contest between 44 elite athletes by ignoring many blatant frees while also paying many ticky touch ones that ruined the flow of the game. Both teams benefited at times; both were penalised at times, though I think the balance of the most blatant ones went in favour of the Bombers.
Yes, most of us here probably accept that the Bombers were the better team on the night and in that sense deserved to win. However, the feeling that so much of the crowd had as that game progressed is that the players were being robbed of their right to dictate what the outcome should be.
Contrast it with another narrow, dramatic game, the SF against Geelong in 2005. The umpires showed an amazing restraint in that game by just paying the obvious frees and letting the whole thing flow. The outcome was decided by the players. Given the much higher stakes than on Saturday night, you can imagine how devasted Geelong fans would have felt to have lost that one at the death. And yet I think I have barely heard a Cats fan comment on the match with anything other than good humour and dignity because they knew that at least they'd been onlookers to a true contest between just 44 men.
Try getting it through to your head that that is why SOME of the crowd booed at the end of the game. Nothing to do with Matthew Lloyd or the rest of the Bombers at all.Comment

Is this Paddy Smith? Hey Paddy, when you're through telling the public how to support on their own fan site, maybe you can tell us how to chew gum.

I read this site knowing that, I don't get your point at all.. Didn't come here wanting to talk about anything other then how pathetic it is A) You blame the umpires for us simply outplaying you, and B) Pretty pathetic to boo a champion of the game who had no saying in the umpires performance.
I don't like horses, don't win nearly as much money on them as I did on this match.Comment

Yawn. If you are going to use your *cough* valuable *cough* time to register at a rival site, please read the threads and actually see the views before posting and then respond to particular views you might take issue with.
I do find it hilarious that West Coast play Essendon this week. Going to be a tough choice for some Swans fans!!Comment
