Will take this win. Don't care how we are doing it atm. As long as we are ahead at the final siren.

Fair point, too. He's a great young player!

It was good to win, but wasn't a great win in that we have a number of problems.

I had a feeling we'd go close to winning purely because of experience. And I think that's the main reason we won. Next time it might be different. Great performances from Everitt and Kirk. Good work from Fosdike, Davis, and Malceski. I think even Mathews and Bevan did okay (against their very low benchmarks).

Our midfield is a major problem still, as is Hall.

The AFL website is a joke, stupid Victorians. How the hell is Jude Bolton one of best players?

Replace Jude with Craig, add Goodes, O'Keefe, Richards and Everitt and there's your best list.

Damn it, there goes my idea for a thread about how the win was karma for the Hawks refusing to trade Spida to us at the end of 2005

I agree with you, the umpiring was @@@@e again today but we definitely had the better of it.

Don't know what to do about Hall, maybe he needs to be put out to pasture or something, because it was as if everything in Dermie's article about Hall leading to all the wrong spots and not working hard enough came true, though he did try to put himself into the play a bit in the second half.

The last quarter was vintage Kirk - Fossie had another good game on the MCG. Was a typical ugly win, and at times it felt like we were trying to lose it, but maybe we needed to win a game when not playing well. Good to see the passion returning at the end of the third quarter when the whole team rushed over to congratulate MO'L on his goal.

The Vics love him, i think we'd still get a decent trade from a Victorian team if we offered him at the seasons end.

If you had him on the AFL Dream Team you'd only get 40 points, just above Bevan (35), Hall (30) and Kennelly (6). Idiots...

Not only is he not getting much of the ball, but his disposal is getting worse (how was his shocking left footer to a Hawthorn player in the centre). Though perhaps it's a blessing he's getting less of the ball if he's going to butcher it so much. I really think we would be better of replacing him with a new midfielder sooner rather than later.

i agree with those best players and id add leo barry in there, thought he played pretty well.

I also agree on your other comment concerning j.bolton, to be fair i thought he was injured during the game? not too sure, but not in the best.

Got a knock to his Knee.....That aside, his first half was less than ordinary.
He's definitely the No.2 ruckmen now. Would like to of seen BBBBH have a run in the ruck in the second half with Jolls out of action, he was ordinary up forward and needs to be more in the action to get him going again.
Fabulous game from Spida. He and Captain K were our best.
Fossy also had a good game.
                          Schmitt did some good things.
McVeigh......please don't anyone defend him today

Gee some of you guys are "glass half empty"/wet blankets.

Come on, if you are going to following the Swans, try to enjoy the good times!!!That was the sweetest home and away victory since Round 6 Collingwood 2003 at Telstra Dome. Just think of the following positives:

                            1. The Hawks were absolutely flying, having beaten recently and comfortably West Coast and Port Adelaide (away from home)

                            2. The game was in Victoria

                            3. Ablett was out

                            4. Kennelly goes down first minute. We are left with a bench of three for three hours. Also, remember how many games we have won without him over the course his career. Answer: 2

                            5. We are smashed in the first quarter, but came back.

                            6. A loss would see us 5-6, with in-form (and always headache) opponents to come in Collingwood at Telstra Stadium and Geelong at Kardina. Can you think of how many comfortable wins that we have had against Collingwood at Homebush? Answer: zero. The last time we beat Geelong at Kardina was last century.

                            7. We won without any of our forwards including Barry Hall having any influence.

                            Come on guys!

Signed: "The glass is half full"

                              I knew they'd do it.

All we have to do now is play 4 quarters of footy!

This is promising if we can win
                              a) playing crap in patches
                              b) winning when our ff doesn't kick a goal

                              Well done boys!

Lynch etc were going on about how great he was pre match, during the match and after, really love him. I even heard the word "Outstanding" used to describe his form at one point.

I think we could get one hell of a trade deal for him if that is the Vic Clubs perception.
