..And the Swans are the Premiers...The Ultimate Team...The Ultimate Warriors. They have overcome the highly fancied Hawks in brilliant style. Sydney the 2012 Premiers - Gerard Whately ABC

I wasn't listening to the radio and was at the ground and came away from the game thinking it was a fantastic game, unlike what was being mentioned on radio or TV.
The Hawks have a bit of a name for ugly footy in the Melbourne media and we are public enemy number one for ugly footy, so alot of the media just turn up with pre determined ways of looking at things and just go along with that.
At the ground the game was tight, both teams hit in at every contest and no one got easy touches. If you cast your mind back to last years game at the G where we won by around 10 goals, that was the most boring display of football I have seen in a long time.
Yesterday it was pleasure to go to the "G" on a sunny day, sit with in a great crowd of 50,000 and see two very good football teams throw everything at each other for 4 quarters.
We play like that and we won't have too many issues finishing 14-8 and earning ourselves another crack at a GF and premiership.

Played the last quarter with one fit bloke on the bench after playing the game one running player short. The guts of this team should never be underestimated. Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.Comment

A total of 20 goals in perfect conditions is hardly high quality football!Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Not by itself, but you don't get a lot of high quality games with few goals, especially given that is an essential part of the game.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

I would be interested to hear your thoughts on Carlton NMWBloods.
Denis has released the shackles and they are kicking cricket scores at present with what is essentially very un-accountable football that won't win them a finals game.
Is that good for their development or for the team in the future?

That's a hard one to answer, I don't think the football was high quality but it still doesn't mean the game was not of a high quality, but for other reasons.

Nail. Head. Hit.
In both respects.
Though it wasn't a classic game by any means, I think it was the gutsiest win from the Swans this year. Only one player had a shocker, most made mistakes (even the normally ultra-reliable) and pretty much all of them did something pretty special at some point during the game.
And while I'm not really an advocate of high-scoring games being more enthralling than tight, close contest, I understand why some others are. But recent history says that shoot outs don't win premierships - teams have to be able to play tight and tough as well as kick goals in a hurry.Comment
