The 50m call was not harsh...he showed a complete disregard for the rule & should have known better. He otherwise played reasonably but will still be seen as a liability when the chips are down. Then again Richards is looking like a liability against weak opposition. Someone said he was picked because we lacked height in defence. I'd have an out of form LRT anyday.Comment

He was slowing down the return of the ball to enable a loose Demon forward to be picked up. Happens every match but the strict liability rule that is applied against us in all rule interpretations resulted in the penalty. To say that Bevo will be a liabilty when the chips are down is a harsh judgement. He has taken some of the best small forwards in the competition and beaten them. Brown ( had him on the choker and short leash), Pettifer (obliterated) and Davey (beat him comprehensively). The Davey match up was interesting because in 2004 Davey won the AFPLA first year players award and Bevo came second. Would think that Bevo is progressing nicely in comparative terms with one of best young players in the comp. Playing on the ferret will be another challenge next week. Don't think he'll let us down.Bevo bandwagon driverComment

Yep, a classic brain snap, to hold the ball in one hand and point toward the goal with the other (signalling to a teammate to man up in the goal square), probably not the best way to disguise slowing the play down to the ump.He was slowing down the return of the ball to enable a loose Demon forward to be picked up. Bevo's been good in recent weeks, been selling some beautiful dummy's through the middle. Needs to continue on now against far better opposition in the coming few weeks.Comment

Bevan's playing more like his first year form, but we'll see whether he can continue his good form against the good sides in the big pressure games.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

He is also facing selection pressure from Crouchy. Depending on the match ups the selectors will opt to bring Crouchy back if he returns to his old fitness and form.Bevo bandwagon driverComment

He's actually doing a lot more than in his first year. Then he was generally playing a loosish role off a flank and through the midfield, as many players in their first few games are. This season he's been asked to play on some of the more dangerous small forwards in the games - mixing it between the very quick and smalls that Crouch or Schneider have taken care of in the past, and the mediums who B2 has often taken when LRT has been around to take care of the talls.
Regardless of some of his disposal and marking errors, his defensive jobs on these players have been more than reasonable in recent weeks. Admittedly Davey was as listless yesterday as most of his team mates but Bevan still did very well to shut him out and get more disposals himself. Despite Nathan Brown kicking 3 goals, Bevan's job on him was also more than adequate. Betts was kept ultra-quiet, and I presume Bevan spent a time on Le Cras too - and while my memory is fading a little of the West Coast game, I don't think Le Cras did much damage.
None of this makes him a star yet, but it is a step in the right direction.Comment

I'll admit he has shown improvement recently, but has to be consistent.
Still has a tendency to look for a hand pass rather than kick.
At least he backed himself a couple of times to run through the centre corridor adn kick the ball.
Seems to have filled the role that Crouch held, pick up the small forwards.spriteComment

That was a cracking pass after he, Kirk and Bucky worked it out of a stoppage....eventually..... Beautiful to watch....Comment

To be fair he has added the dummy handpass to his repotoire. His role is to fill the channel blocking the leading forward and at the spill of the ball to distribute it to one of the running backs or midfielders. Apart from his terrible hospital to poor old Demster in the Eagles match he is doing that really well at moment as well as running forward up the guts. Hey he does it better and quicker than Benny. Be interesting to see whether he picks up the ferret on the sainters forward line (Crouchie always smothered him) or that job goes to a quicker player.I'll admit he has shown improvement recently, but has to be consistent.

I was impressed with Bevan's game on Sunday. I was sceptical at first, but he played very well.Does God believe in Atheists?Comment
