You kick it between the 2 big sticks in order to win the game. We were 3 goals in front against a team that has two of the better big forwards in the game. We have (and have had for a little while now) the 2nd best percentage in the competition.

Seriously, the idea that we would bomb the ball into a forward line crowded with St Kilda players is ludicrous. Any quick turn over could have cost us big time. The possible gain of a few % points is NOT worth risking a win. To say otherwise makes you sound very silly.

I've been going on about our percentage and how important it is to us all year.

Yes, we have the second highest % in the comp (thanks to the tiggers). As I've said earlier - percentage is going to play a huge part in the ladder at season's end. We've got three big games ahead of us - I'd hate to see a team that is on the same points as us with an easier run home jump us on the ladder because our boys were too busy playing kick-to-kick.

Our percentage this week is 120%. Someone earlier said that our % was 126. They should have checked the ladder before commenting.

I still like to think that no matter how ahead we are (three goals really isn't that far ahead when there's 10 minutes to go on the clock and the swannies are playing kick-to-kick), we should always endeavour to move the bloody ball forward and have a crack at booting in another goal.

But then, I don't have control of the runners on game day ... if only!!

And risk losing the game? In the context of the game 3 goals was a huge lead and there was no way we were going to lose if St Kilda didn't have the ball. It seems you are the only one who can't work that out .

Annie, yes % is important but in the context of that game, it wasn't.

As you said, Sydney has the second highest percentage in the comp. We have zero chance of having the highest. Our closest rival, the Hawks, would have to win their next game by 100 points (against Port mind you) just to catch us.

Relax and open your line of thought. Sometimes it's important NOT to chip and sometimes it is.

Last week, it was probably more important to do so, particularly when it did manage to draw some players out of the Saints flooded forward line and particulalry given that it was a tight game and the goals we had on the board were gold, not the percentage.

Percentage means nothing when you risk losing a game. At 3 goals up, I was applauding the kick to kick with 10 minutes to go because I could see that St Kilda had flooded back and bombing it forward would have resulted in a Saints rebound.

No teams can "jump us on the ladder" if we keep winning. Look at the ladder and the remaining fixtures and you'll see. Risking games to "have a crack at booting in another goal" is a laughable strategy right now.
