MOL is having the greatest season since Bob Pratt. Of course, none of his stats support this, but it's just a feeling that he's contesting and doing clever things with the ball. You know how mercurial these guys are. Just special.
As for Davis, he's just lazy and avoids contests. Forget those stats - all cheap kicks in the back line and most don't hit targets anyway. Probably pays someone at the AFL to increase his stats. Playing worse than Bevan at his worst.
No doubt about it, it's so obvious to anyone who doesn't just look at what's in front of their eyes...Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Droll, subtle and witty.
You sure made a great point. My favourite part was the comparison to Bob Pratt.
I know it's only August, but that may very well be post of the year.He ate more cheese, than time allowedComment

Michael O'Loughlin - 0 goals and 0 behinds. Just what we needed from a key forward in career best form

I'm interested to hear other people's thoughts: does anyone think Davis has significantly improved over the last few years? For me, he's still far too inconsistent. He appears to get outmanouvred by defenders far too easily, and is still pretty ordinary when it comes to putting pressure on defenders in our F50. Perhaps I'm just reacting to his poor game tonight, what do others think?Comment

No, that pretty much sums him up. But he is a game winner. On his day he can outclass anyone. A bit like Leon Davis I guess. But better.I'm interested to hear other people's thoughts: does anyone think Davis has significantly improved over the last few years? For me, he's still far too inconsistent. Adding further to the stats, when you take into account time on ground, Davis is ahead of MOL in nearly every category: possessions, contested possessions, inside 50s, clearances, tackles, goals and assists.Could it be possible that the stats dont tell the whole story? As the Davis gang likes to point out, he does more than most with minimal possesions. Micky O has been more effective at 1. Creating a contest (a role he hasn't been asked to do since approx 2001) 2. Goal assists, and clean possesions inside 50.
If I had to choose between Mick and Davis on this seasons form, it would be quite straightforward.
The only one where MOL beats Davis is in clangers!Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

The comparison is a little silly anyhow. It's similar to comparing the stats of Eski with B2. They play different roles, and their possessions/stats dont tell the full story. The benefit of Micky this year is that he has crashed packs and forced a contest regularly, which he has not been able to do for some time.
Davis has been ok this year, but I still dont think he brings as much as Micky to the team. Not on current form.
Btw, I liked how Davis tried to bring Micky into the game with three missed passes in the first quarter. He ate more cheese, than time allowedComment

Only at the Swans could "creating contests" be an indication of the value of a player.
Chris Judd isn't a great player because he creates contests, it's because he wins them."As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk
