    Legs akimbo is confused.

A tall and strong player that can run like a gazelle - fastest at club over 3km with super endurance, better field kick than adam goodes and superlative kick at goal.

    1. Why was he a rookie not a top-10 draft pick?
    2. Why has he been languishing in the Canberra league to build his 'confidence'?
    3. Why was he not promoted last year on potential alone?

Liz has mentioned his occassional brain farts, but to my mind, that's a pretty minor issue against his attributes. Something doesn't add up.

Do we need to consult Jason Akermanis on this.

DISCLAIMER- THAT ABOVE IS INTENDED AS A JOKE. IN NO WAY IS LEGS AKIMBO SUGGESTING THAT SYDNEY SWANS PLAYER ED BARLOW (AKA CHEESE) HAS INGESTED, INJECTED OR OTHERWISE USED ANY PERFORMANCE ENHANCING SUBSTANCE SUCH AS EPO, STEROIDS, ICE, RED BULL ETC. THIS POST IS INTENDED FOR LIGHT AMUSEMENT ONLY AND THE AUTHOR TAKES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY VICARIOUS LIABILITY ASSOCIATED WITH INTENTIONAL OR ACCIDENTAL MISUSE FOR PURPOSES OF INSINUATION OR DEFAMATION. HAVE A NICE DAY.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

The difference with Barlow and Grundy is that Grundy got his debut goals as a forward and clearly doesn't have the endurance of Barlow. I compare Barlow with Goodes because he appears to have that similar running endurance. If that is an indication of how he plays then to have these 2 blokes as running ruck rovers is exciting stuff. Maybe a strong body like barlow at centre bounces might go a way to solving the clearance problem.

By the way it looks like Barlow's disposal is better than that of Goodes.
Given that hardly any trades are done these days, I seriously doubt Brabazon would ever be put up for 'trade'. Might've been a chance to be delisted but not traded.

Barlow certainly impressed me but the bloke's played one game - let's have another look before calling him the next A.Goodes.

        Calm down people.......

Yeah he had a pretty good game, especially early. But let's not start handing out Brownlow's just yet.

He was OK. But just OK. let himself down with a couple of clangers in the end and to be honest, he probably wasn't given to much respect in the first half so he was playing virtually unmarked. 2nd half brought him back to the field when he was shown a bit more respect and not given us much space.

No disrespect, he was OK and I hope he continues to improve but I ain't jumping through hoops just yet.

Ah yes I recall getting a text message from one P46 during a practice match/pre season game which went something like - "how bad is Ed Barlow, where did they find this shocker. Worst player of all time".

Look forward to standing with you at the "G" and discussing the afforesaid footballer.

We might compare him with that player you labelled as an absolute superstar of the future (watch him in 2007 you sprouted) by the name of Jared McVeigh.

But isn't that the great thing about our game, the ability to stand together, enjoy a beer together and @@@@ecan each other for 3 hours at the weekend. Wouldn't miss it for quids.

well "Cheese" had a shocker. Was very slow, got caught a couple of times and he made some poor choices. The one that sticks in my mind is the when he took a mark inside the 50 and played on.

So will he be picked next week or dropped?

Looks like Brennan is out with a hammie , Amon will be rubbed out, Magic could be in doubt.....will Cheese keep his place and who will come in? LRT, Barry, Schmit?

                Really, he should be dropped.

I heard somewhere that he was one of our quickest over 20m? Surely that can't be right.

if he's our quickest over 20m, we are in serious trouble. He couldn't outrun J Bolton with some of the glimpses I saw of him last night. Still a long, long way to go before he even gets to Goodes' pre-Brownlow levels, circa 2002.

                    Paul Roos:
"We mentioned during the week what a good athlete he is and you probably saw it out on display tonight," Roos said.

"He runs, he's a big kid, he covers the ground and does all the things required athletically to play AFL footy these days.

"If you can cover the ground, you're quick and you're big, it makes the game a bit easier."
Maybe he was injured last night, or overawed by the occasion? He certainly did look quick at the Gabba.

I really don't get this. Most people on this site have been craving for our youngsters to get a go, one does, has a great game, then is less effective the next week and his head is on the block? Fair dinkum, some people here are never happy.
Patterns emerge, but do they mean anything? No.

Every posession he had last night was a clanger (I'm not kidding, every single one).

We're just calling it as we see it.

He should definately get a game next week, especially with Brennan and Buchanan out.

In your wizened opinion, if Brennan wasn't injured last night, she we still play him? I love to give the kids a fair go cos they're kids and will get better with experience, but Brennan just doesn't seem to think. Did he forget which colour his team was when he punched the ball away from a certain mark by the only other player within range, C Bolton? Did he not think to slightly disguise the hit to boundary and maybe even gain a couple of meters? I don't like to be quick to judge and i'd love to see him stay, but last night there were some mistakes too great for a seasoned player.

                              Brennan isn't a seasoned player.

Yeh, probably wrong word, older, maybe with all the injury time he's had he should have picked up more mentally, footy brain is what he lacked. I've gotta give it to him in the punch outs, he certainly gains a few meters there!
