No, you'll find the club decided that he was better served impacting upon game from the midfield delivering the ball on a plate for forwards such as Barry Hall. So if you want to blame someone don't blame Davis (because that is a far too easy a horse to kick, without looking at stats or facts to back up those claims).

Davis is one of the most improved players of the team this year and on Saturday when he got the ball in front of goal he took his chances as expected.

I'm sick to death of the same people defending Nick Davis and then turning on some of the youngsters who haven't got as much talent as Davis yet they try their hardest. Whats Nick do? Nothing!

I am sick to death of the words "Potential" "Talented" "Gamebreaker" used in the same sentence with Nick Davis. He is so god dam lazy and so frustrating to watch i have given up on him. 18 months ago if he were to leave i would have been pissed now I wouldnt care less if he decided to leave.

Nick Davis is a good ordinary player and in my eyes thats all he will be as he hasnt lived up to his full potential, thats if he had any to start off with. I am cynical in thinking theres way too much hype behind Nick Davis.

          I'll second that.

Swans v Geelong Semi Final '05",Davis you friggen legend.Your right in 1 point he can be lazy at times, but that is why the rest of the team should involve him in more plays that way he wouldn't get so frustrated.Davis is a proven match winner,i dont care if he doesnt do it in every game just as long as he does it in the games that count.

Winning ONE match (albeit a big one) does not make you a "proven match winner". I think you can only get that title when you've won a match for the team say, more than once.

Davis is a showpony. Has always been a showpony, and I'll bet that he'll always be a showpony. He's a lazy, good-for-nothing ....

Your right Annie, but we need him he is a match winner and has kicked some big goals for us.IMO we have only one proven match winner and that is MELCHO,no one even comes close.

Yeah good on him for that one game but my cynical self wants too see Nick break a game more than once to prove it was not a fluke. He does nothing at all. I wish i could say "he is a finals specialist" but even last year during the finals he did @@@@ all.

At this stage i would rate some of RWO whipping boys ahead of Nick Davis in all counts, including Paul Bevan.

Eski needs to work on his defensive side, he hardly has any and he was dreadful on Saturday night..some of his kicks were horrible.

The problem was not Davis or Hall or any of our key forwards. The problem was our delivery into the forward 50. Hall presented well but bottom line is we just didn't get it in there cleanly or with any consistency. Davo is an opportunist goal scorer. You can't expect him to bag goals if he's not getting opportunity.

I don't really see why it is Nick's fault we didn't win simply because he didn't pop up to win the game. Half the playing squad had the same number of touches as Nick or less. Barry kicked 1.5, that is horrible kicking for goal in anyone's book- but at the same time most of the misses (from memory) weren't overly easy. Adam missed two pretty easy shots on goal. Michael didn't kick any. It happens.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

What absolute drivel. Nick Davis is the only player in the side at the moment that you'd back with any confidence kicking a goal from 40+ metres out - Look on the weekend where Ablett, Hall, Schneider to name a few all failed from that distance. When other sides bomb them from there regularly to beat the flood, it makes our deficiencies in this area all the more glaring.

Apart from being our most reliable shot at goal he also adds skill and clean disposal to our otherwise skill-lacking midfield.
"As everyone knows our style of football is defensive and unattractive, and as such I have completely forgotten how to mark or kick over the years" - Brett Kirk
