I was surprised to read that. The Casino probably isn't the place I'd expect our playing group to be the night before a final. Not saying they're not allowed - just surprised. It's such a high profile venue. Gambling also raises your heart rate and adrenalin so it probably would have been better that they were having cocoa in their jimmy jams increasing their seratonin.

I'm not sure, but I would assume they were staying at Crown Towers, in which case they didn't even go outside into the cold.

They never stay at Crown, it's normally down the road.

Whilst you are assuming, one could also assume that they were out a lot later then 9.30, that was the time I left them at that particular table.

Funny that the players at the casino played like crap and the ones not there had half decent games.

the others might have been at the caberet show or the late night buffet there - so in theory they could still have been at Crown too (sorry I just couldn't help myself!)

I really dont think it would have made any difference to the result either way.
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

To a certain extent I agree. But in this day and age of total professionalism it's surprising to say the least.

Gambling has interesting psychological effects and can be pretty mind consuming and addictive, especially when you are betting $1000 a hand on blackjack. The highs and lows are intense and don't just 'disappear' when you walk out the door.

They usually stay at the Crowne Plaza, just across the Yarra from Crown.

                I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If that is how some of the players want to relax and not think about the game then I have no issue with that as long as they were not drinking.

No difference than seeing a movie or a show.

I hope they didn't swim back across the Yarra, Ben Cousins style.

                      ahhh,

This thread explains why the Monks at my local abbey win the comp every year.

I thought it was the power of prayer

Seems it is just because they go to bed before 6 each night.

Is that the Abbey on the estate?

                          Yes,

Despite their physical style, they beat the scullery maids in the GF every year

OK, so a 5 minute walk if you get a red light (red traffic light of course). Hardly an energy sapping walk. And as has been said, if they were at the movies in the same complex would it be an issue, or if Darren Jolly was visiting the in-laws?
