MickyO - has-a-been!!!!
Indeed.
Swantastic, I'm going to drop you again if you keep up talk like this.
Someone should tell him he's now a has-been. Go on. I dare you.
MOL's playing like a 22 year old trapped in a 30 year old body (kinda like me!!). Micky's got at least another two years (and maybe a bit) left in him.

Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

I don't think that the criterion of whether a player would walk into the best 22 of all other clubs is close to a valid one to determine 'eliteness'.
Most lists are quite even and if you took an individual player in the top 15 on almost every list and compared him to the 22nd player on every other club's list, you would be able to mount a very strong case for him being picked ahead of that 22nd player. For some clubs that top 15 might be closer to a top 12. For some it would be a top 17. But for very few would it be a top 3 or 4. Clearly in some cases player type comes into consideration but those are exceptions rather than the rule.
For me 'elite' means a player having a reasonable case of being in the top 20 or so players in the competition. One could reasonably extend that definition to, say, top 50 - a broader elite but arguably a justifiable one.Comment

in addition, i kind of think of it like Judd's moving back to Melbourne. He announced he wanted to leave WCE (to go home) and every club wanted a piece of him (would have been all the teams had he not specified melb based).
I'm certain that the same thing would happen if Goodes announced he wanted to leave Sydney (touch wood). This kind of fits in with the "walking in to any team's best (insert number here)' school of thought but with a demand affiliation.
Goodes - all teams would bend over backwards to get him
ROK - not all teams would want him but majority yes
Kirk - bit old but most teams would want him
Hall - bit old and plays archaically half of the teams would want him
Eski - bit young but most teams would want him based on potential
Kennelly - all bar one or two would want him
Therefore, yes Goodes is our only Elite player in my view, with Kennelly very almost there and Eski our next. ROK an unlucky mention here.Comment

But then, for those at the bottom end of the list ... they could shine when they go to another team (environment, etc.), e.g. Craig Bolton, so all is not lost.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
