I certainly sympathise with them, but that doesn't mean I want them to win.

Nothing better than when the favourite gets knocked off in the big one.

Agree - I know a number of them too and they are all nervous - cautious even. Most Cats fans will be feeling exactly the same way as we all did in 2005. This Geelong side is the form team and as much as many of the one eyed Swans supporters on here would say otherwise, Geelong have played fantastic footy this year. They have played the way footy should be played, not the type of crap Swans dished up. So for me GO CATS - they deserve it, and like us they have waited decades for another flag - its now their time in the sun.

Geelong used to be my second favourite team, although I don't think any team holds that place for me now.

They were such an exciting team from '89 onwards - great to watch. I find the current crop a bit clinical, but that is probably why they are a better chance of winning the GF. Mooney and Johnson irritate me, but there are always a few in each team like that.

I feel more like supporting them after Bartel won the Brownlow - his humility was great.

Port Adelaide are a great FC, and I like them being strong in the AFL too, but when I remember how they acted in 2004 I have difficulty supporting them. They were the most bitter winners of a premiership I can remember. They displayed the worst acts of sportsmanship that day from any winner I can remember in the last twenty years.

For that reason alone I will probably be supporting the cats.

Except Cats fans have more reason to be confident than we do. We were playing in an even money contest, the Cats are $1.30 favourites!

Aren't their supporters allowed to get excited anymore? It's Grand Final week FFS.

And Amen to that. Ports arrogance this week has been nausiating to put it mildly. I couldn't stand it if they got up again.

That said the way the Cats have handled this week has been farcicle. Very very few players being made available for interviews. Lots of hoo har with the media at Kardinia Park yesterday, they are in lock down mode something serious and you would think some of that must be rubbing off on the footy staff and players. I can understand them trying to keep the lid on somewhat but they've gone waaaay overboard.

Billy Brownless and Sam Newman have been talking up their chances for half the season. The lid has been off for a while already.

Was it last year or the year before that Sam Newman put it up the cats every week ... telling them they were useless, etc.? I can't remember.
