Round 22 win cost us a Grand Final and maybe a ....

If only we hadn't beaten Hawthorn in Round 22. We'd then have played the Kangas in the Elim Final and won. We would have then beaten Hawthorn in the SF after they were thrashed by the Cats. Then a victory over Port in the Preliminary and on to the the GF. The Cats would then have had to play a team that never gives up, closes down space and puts pressure on. Who knows, we may have .....

I think that's really clutching at straws.

It's not clutching at straws, It's just another case of what if's.
I had those same thoughts during the week and I know three other swans fans that have had similar thoughts over the past few weeks.
Oh well, onward (and hopefully upward) to '08.

We would've been exposed as frauds by at least week 2 of the finals series.
I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!! :adore

if we had won all 22 games and finished top we would of been able to win week one and take the week off and probably get to the grannie where we would of won by about 150

I only opened his thread to see what the end of the quote was,

And you didn't provide the answer

                Ahhh.. good old what ifs.

What if Nicky D didn't manage to get his boot onto the ball at the Randwick end in 2005?

Best not to think about what ifs really

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

I partly agree. We definitely ended up on the tough side of the finals draw. Had to beat Collingwood and Geelong just to make the Grand Final.

I couldn't think of anything worst than playing Geelong this year in a Grand Final. No one, including the Swans would have got near them. It's going to be interesting to see the repercussions at Port Adelaide after this demoralising defeat.

                      He has a point.

Why couldn't we play well (like in round 22) when we really needed to?

How about this: Maybe the R22 win was to say goodbye to the supporters in Sydney. Sort of going out on a high note. In my opinion the players never believed they could go far in September hence their last display of brilliance. I sort of felt that after they drew with the Lions everything seems to be lost for them. That could also explain their performance the following round.
                        Just a thought.

It just wasn't our year. Maybe they'll be hungrier next year.

We would have got thrashed in the GF and had another (too) long season which would have put our 2008 campaign in jeapordy. I'm happy with the turnout. In AFL you only get out what you put in and not enough players put in enough this year. Ka piche.
