Everyone is tradeable says Roos...

but some are more tradeable than others.

Roos says no name is off the table. Realistically some won't be traded just due to age - Magic, the two Barrys, Spida spring to mind. Kirk possibly has as many as 4 good years left in him if he wants to keep going but his age and lack of star recognition mean his trade value would be so much less than his value within the team that in reality you can count him out too. And while Kennelly would be desirable for other teams, he'd probably just pack his bags and go home, so in reality he's out too.

But what of our most tradeable commodities in terms of trade value? I don't for one moment think this any of this group will get traded unless another Judd appears on the market and indicates he wants to come to Sydney, but if they were to go, what would people expect to get in return?

If The Illegals want picks 1, 3, 20 and josh Kennedy for Judd, Goodes would have to be worth 2 top 20 picks and a player.

O'Keefe and B2, 1 first round pick and a player for each of them.

Eski, 1 top 20 pick and a player.

This article irritated me.

1. Last year was the year to trade not this year. This year's draft cohort is universally recognised as below average. Strange time to enter the game.

2. 15 players over 27. Lot's of trade value there huh.

3. Are we trading for picks or players? If players, are we trading good old players for less good younger players or less good younger players for better older players? Our younger players are largely an unknown quantity due to playing in the Canberra league, so I suspect their trade value is diminished. I would be disappointed if they are traded for that reason alone. Roos would be well advised to consider that the young Collingwood team that ran rings around us was built from the ground up, not from trading players for players.

4. There is only one player with 'Judd like qualities' and that is Judd. Where is it that this mythical outside midfielder to magically appear from? Bethlehem? I only hope they are not referring to Travis Johnson, although I am starting to fear the worst.

If they acquire a player of value then there isn't a problem. BF is touting Kane Tenance and somebody called Sherman to the Swans. However, that's BF.

BTW seems many clubs are chasing cameron wood now, Sydney might opt for a Dad's Army ruck with Everitt and King.

They may not necessarily be on the market now, but if they hear Sydney is looking for such a player, they may request a trade. Who knows who it could be or if Roos has anyone in particular in mind. I think it's a case of throw something out there and see what comes out of it.

Despite what Roos has said, I can't see Goodes, Malceski or C.Bolton traded or any of the players Liz named for the same reasons (age / Irish) as she cited. We don't have enough defenders to give Bolton away.

Therefore I think it could most likely come down to O'Keefe, J.Bolton, Buchanan, Schneider, Schmidt (home to Adelaide?), Fosdike.

As I mentioned in the somewhat speculative Kerr thread, a swap for O'Keefe will get us the sort of player Roos is talking about.

Don't be surprised if Roos spends a lot of trade week talking to Ross Lyon as St Kilda has in its midfield what we need (Del Santo, Ball, Hayes, Clarkes), and could use a new forward to replace Gehrig.

Roos also says that they are close to stitching up a four-year deal with Jols but like you say, time will tell.

Like it or not, Jolly is very good trade bait atm with the current shortage of ruckmen so add him to that list. Kennelly should be there as well if you're talking about what other clubs would be keen to trade a 1st round and more for.

To a slightly lesser extent, I think Buchanan would attract a fair bit of attention and probably Davis & ROK as well. After that maybe Schneider and McVeigh. But options start drying up pretty quickly after that!

There is close to 0% percent chance he would settle at another club. And that's a pretty small chance.

I don't for a second think that he'd ever be traded. Nontetheless, I reckon there's another 15 clubs out there that would find a spot for him in their starting 22.

I think you mean that Malceski might be worth top 5. Would Melbourne trade pick 4 for him? Would Carlton trade 3? Of course they would.
