Well, if only they would provide some facts to their assertions instead of acting like a goose in response.

No you're the one with no idea. If you think duty of care is a black and white issue then you are an idiot.

I thought the way the Eagles handled yesterday was most admirable. They might not have many friends on here judging by the blind hatred espoused time and again, but they have some impressive people in charge of the club, and the way they've offered to continue to support Cousins is most commendable.

OK idiot, what is the "duty of care" you are clucking about? Please provide the legislation or moral obligation that the WCE have breached. Oh, that's right, it's better to reply with a shmuck response than to prove anything. Well done hammo!!

Duty of care is pretty much black and white for the average joe, AND, average joe realises it's a two-way street.
Are you a QC? The "grey" areas of duty of care are what the lawyers fight over. If you'd like to present some examples of these "grey areas" of which you speak, I'd love to see them.

Is it necessary to call someone an "idoit". I think I've managed to go through these whole 14 pages without putting anyone down (other than Ben Cousins). And the usual nuff nuffs are the ones doing the name calling. You really should learn to hold a conversation without calling people names. It doesn't make you look very intelligent, it makes you look like you're clutching at straws (again).

As for commending the criminal management on the way they have behaved .... give me a @@@@ing break.

Where were they years ago when all this @@@@ started? Smacking him on the hand and saying "you're a naughty boy benny, but you play tops football so we'll turn a blind eye".

They're paying for it now. They gave away poor Juddy for free, and now there's talk of SGIO pulling the plug.

                  Eagles Pay Price for Cousins

Legendary West Australian football identity John Todd, who coached the Eagles for two seasons after the club's inception in 1987, said West Coast deserved to pay for the turmoil caused by its stars over several seasons.

But he also said the AFL needed to take some responsibility for clearing Cousins' return.

"I honestly believe they've got to pay the price for making a mistake and the AFL have certainly got to take some responsibility," Todd said. "If you put rules in place, you have to abide by them. I've always been very strict on discipline and if players overstep the mark and they know exactly where they stand, well they pay the price."

Cousins was charged with possessing a prohibited drug which was yesterday revealed to be diazepam, a brand of valium for which he could not present a prescription.

Eagles team-mate Daniel Kerr, who was fined $400 in 2004 for forging a script for the same drug, visited the club's headquarters at Subiaco Oval yesterday but refused to discuss his friend's situation. Nisbett left the club briefly in the company of West Coast doctor Rod Moore about midday but also declined to comment on the matter.
From the article I posted above.

This is the drug he has been charged with possessing. A legal drug, but he could not provide a prescription for it (thereby making it illegal).

maybe all of your questions and queries can be answered if you download the WA Governments Guidance note of "General Duty of care in Western Australian workplaces" 82 pages of reading - it should settle some arguments (one can only hope!)

This is the drug found they can possitively identify. From what I've read, there are other unidentified substances which are now being tested.
I wonder what they could be.

The Eagles feel they have a duty of care and that's all that matters. Who cares whether its a legal obligation or not.

At a time when most in the community believe football clubs should take greater responsibility for preparing their players for life after football, the Eagles' move not to wipe their hands of Cousins and his problems and actually assist his treatment is commendable.

Cousins clearly has some serious health problems. He has been an employee of the Eagles for his entire adult life - more than 10 years. It's not surprising that close relationships are formed in that time and an employer would want to help him regain his health, not cut ties and watch his life spiral out of control.

All football clubs should assume a greater duty of care to their players to prepare them for life after football, with a focus on education. Cousins won't have a life after football unless he overcomes his problems, so where's the difference?

If you watched the entire press conference last night you would also not pontificate on issues you clearly know nothing about, although coming from you this is no surprise.

Cousins was allowed to return to football on medical advice. His doctors thought the structure the football club provided would assist in his recovery.

Having failed, the football is being taken away so he has nothing else to concentrate on except his rehabilitation.
