It's an Australian thing .... it's called the tall poppy syndrome.

Wanting him to fall from grace is one thing, but celebrating him back on drugs is a different thing.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

While I am not celebrating, I can understand how some people would love to see him finally suffer consequences for his reckless actions. He has displayed arrogance and denial ever since his issues were dealt with earlier this year. I don't necessarily understand how people can be "joyous" for his latest indescretions (they are potentially deadly), and I cannot understand how other people can sympathise with him for the exact same reasons.Comment

There is a mixed bag of "your thoughts" on the West Australian newspapers website.
Keen to see what response will be from AFL HQ - or is Andy Pandy overseas with his phone switched off?I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

I would assume that he was under investigation over a much bigger problem than he has been charged for, hence the big squad that was ready to pounce. As for comments regarding his best mate Mainwaring, there is a possibility that he is under invetigation for that as well. Feel sorry for him? Na, he's a @@@@ing parasite. His life has become a sad and sorry affair. The findings of the investigation into Mainwarings death are still to come..

I guess we all just have to wait and see what transpires - either way its not a good story.I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure..................

It's been six months since "poor benny" first had a public slip off his pedestal. Let's face it, the pedestal had been sitting on shaky ground for quite some time before that.
Six months ago, the nuff nuffs (you know who you are) decided that "poor benny" should be felt sorry for and he should be given a chance, he's a suffering addict who really doesn't know better. As you know, I did not subscribe to that opinion. I still don't. How many more "chances" do you want to give him now?
The best thing that could have been done for benny was to delist him six months ago for at least a year. Ah, the value of hindsight.
By giving him "chance" after "chance", you are contributing to his problem. You are indirectly telling him that it's OK, when clearly, it's not.
I spent a lot of time at EFH & BF last night, just having a browse - seeing what the "others" think.
Most people (including quite a few crim supporters) have had enough of Ben Cousins - and most are laughing AT him now. Enough is bloody enough.
It was HIS decision and HIS decision alone to continue down the path that he CHOSE to take - despite overwhelming assistance and help from the AFL, his club, his family, his fans even his ex-friggin-girlfriend.
The guy is a first class idiot - 2 billion times worse than anything our Capper-type idiot can muster up to embarass the club - Caps is harmless!!
Seriously, I don't care that it's benny boy - if it were one of our players, I'd be just as disgusted.
I wait with bated anticipation for the next juicy instalment.Last edited by AnnieH; 17 October 2007, 10:25 AM. Reason: correct bated anticipation - it means to try and wait eagerly (yet patiently) for something.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

I have to say that I really feel for his parents. This is absolutely gut wrenching stuff to see their kid self destruct and drag the Cousin's name through the sewerage. It's every parent's nightmare and now they are living it. A damn shame. That's why I dispise Ben so much, it's not that he has tarnished the AFL brand, it's because of the damage he's causing his family - and sitting their with a @@@@ing arrogant grin on his face makes me want to belt this living @@@@@ out of him.Comment

Can you hold your kids hands forever? Maybe that's benny's problem - he's had his hand held for far too long.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

A lot of people felt sorry for him. When I have a little bit of time, I'll go back to the thead from six months ago and pull out a few quotes (should do it now before they get deleted by an over-zealous moderator, eh?).
I've been on a roller-coast of feelings. You should come for the ride. My feelings have gone from joy to elation, then slipped back to joy for a while. I felt disgust, then joy, then a bit of merriment. I went back to just plain old happy before one nano-second of remorse, but it was overridden by complete ecstasy (no pun intended) one nano-second later.Last edited by AnnieH; 17 October 2007, 10:26 AM.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
