What if he is innocent... looks like WA police have realised they made a poor error of judgement and at the moment have him for not taking a test, which the law came in the last month so any citizen may refuse not knowing the new law and they have him having posession of a unpresecribed valium sedative (Wow!! im no pharmacist but that sounds like a strong Panadol to me), thats it at this stage....
Can't be that serious a charge if the judge let him go to America, and would he want to go to America if he wasn't serious about getting off the drugs and returning to football !! Sydney and Brisbane are perfect places to get away from the media scrum that belongs in Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth...
Just throwing it out there...Comment

The courts will be very lucky if the charges stick. At most, once again, he'll get a slap on the wrist.
Should they let him back (HIGHLY UNLIKELY) - we seriously don't need him. He can go to Brisvegas ... I need another excuse to hate them now that wankermanis is gone.Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.Comment

I'll line up for the next bullet, but...
you'd have to seriously entertain it. IF he's even allowed to play again, that is.
He could only go to a club that has a very strong leadership group, and I think we have the strongest. He could also get out of the media fishbowl that is Perth, to a city where AFL isn't the main code.
If any team could get rid of his "dickheadness", it would be Sydney.
It all comes down to how much he still wants to play football.Comment

Hammo come on how can any one defend them, they have bought the game into disrepute. Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

The club had no alternative but to terminate his contract. It is good that they are willing to provide every support he needs to overcome his addiction. But Ben has to WANT to overcome it. The AFL were ready to pounce and deregister him if WCE did not act appropriately. Considering Cousins has not failed one drug test conducted by the AFL, I believe their actions would have been hypocritical in light of other footballers who have tested positive but have received protection from the AFL. Bizarre.
However, he has been a menace on a number of occasions and he now has to suffer the consequences of his actions. He has to accept it, deal with it, and get over it.Comment

Blimey, you would have done well as Daryl Somers side kick several years ago. Regardless of the outcome of his court case, Ben Cousins has serious issues. Let's stop trying to ignore them, excuse them or even deny them. His father has come out and openly explained he is suffering from addiction. It is sad and very destructive. Unfortunately, the destructive nature of his habit is causing damage not only to himself but to everyone around him. The sooner Ben Cousins takes ownership of his issue and agrees to overcome it, the better. It is almost impossible for anyone to help him - WCE, his friends or even his parents, unless he accepts and acknowledges his problems.
