6/10 - We still made the finals, a few close results going our way would've meant another top 4 spot but Roosy was outcoached on many instances. The current game plan is no longer original and its effectiveness has been limited due to the recent umpiring changes.
I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!! :adore

Yeah, and how many other teams could say that?
Or use injured players as a reason?
Probably more worrisome that the team can't get over the line.
I remember a few years ago we lost a lot of games by a slender margin.
We need to win the close ones, keep fighting on when we are clearly going to lose, and when we are well up, we need to learn how to absolutely demolish a team.
One thing that many other team supporters get that Swans fans don't is their team handing out a crushing defeat.

        6/10

He needs to show his nasty side sometimes and "punish" the players when underperforming. Honeymoon with the premiership players should be over.

Didn't see his kids as much so an 8/10 for me.

6/10 - my main beef is his lack of "dare to be different" attitude and continuing to play injured players. He showed no faith in some of the reserves players yet great faith in the likes of J Bolton who was useless as tits on a bull. he continued to play those who were so far out of form it wasn't funny.

We went from the toughest team in the comp to a soft outfit by years end.

Our mid range players were appalling and for what ever reason he stuck with the same centre square clearance players when it was clear we were by far and away the worst in that department in the comp.

made some strange decisions at times and he often failed to make the hard decisions when they needed making. Got the gameplan wrong for a large part of the year and was far too inflexible with it at critical times of the season. Things like losing to Collingwood 3 times because we tried the same gameplan 3 times showed that he was out of touch in 07. Lets hope he refinds it in 08. 5.5/10 for me. As pointed out, a couple of results going differently and it could of been much different season for us.

For those of you calling for a new game plan mid year, get over it.

There is no possible way you can change your strategy and game plan mid year. Even coaches who attempt to change the style over the off season say it can take a year for it to be implemented and work they want it to.

Where Roos failed if anywhere, was not bringing in a couple of fresh faces that could support the intended gameplan once it became known that the group was showing signs of wear and tear.

But it is highly debatable, if Roos had the players ready to come into the side that could and would have made a difference.

Anytime you make the finals your coach deserves at least a 7. A first up finals loss means we don't add to that score.

But as others have said one more win over Essendon and who knows?

                  7/10

That part of your post I'd agree with.

I think there was a point during last season when most of us had written off our '07 hopes and were prepared to watch some experimenting done on the field.
I felt that way a fair bit.

I'm in your boat CTS. I would have been happy to see some experimentation with younger players and a different game plan during most of the year.

When your game plan has been worked out it has to evolve but it doesn't appear Roosey has the balls to try something different when the original plan isn't working.

6/10 for making the finals and going out so quickly it saved me money in 07.

I reckon if you gave Roos less than 6/10 then that amount of dissatisfaction warrants change.

At round 10 I would have given 6/10 expecting something to change. from there it went downhill.

Making the finals (and providing the tiniest glimmer of hope) got him to 4/10 at the end of the season

5/10. Out coached in more games than ever before. Reluctance to blood more young blokes while hanging onto
a couple of older players. Could take a lesson from Tom Hafey
who said " there is no player or reputation too big to play reserves" when necessary.

                                4/10.....

Most disappointing season by far. He may very well be a great coach, but tactically I think he gets done far to often on game day. Didn't have any vision (or the balls) to deviate from the game plan even when we were getting slaughtered in different positions at different times. Same bone when it comes to the decisions at the selction table.

I've seen some comments here about if only we hadn't been robbed by the umpires Vs the Bummers. Won Vs Brisbane. Beaten WCE instead of losing by a point. blah, blah, blah. A GOOD coach, on his game, would of found ways to win those games.

Suck it up Roosy. Your 2007 was @@@@e.

Hope your 2008 looks more like your 2003.
