Game Thread - Swans v. Port / Comments, Assessments etc
It worries me that they still insist on passing into traffic. Very dangerous.
Spida was sitting up in the Brewongle today. Bless him, he signed my hat!!
I saw him again in the lift at half time - he was going up a level to talk on MMM and I wanted to go down to the ground, so I went for the ride. Top bloke. He's hoping to be back next week.
Kicking goals for a change has put us in 5th ... on top of the "four pointers". It helps to have a healthy percentage!!
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun. Blessedare the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.
It was a good day at the footy. I'll admit to feeling a bit sick after the first 10 minutes. I was getting really cranky thinking typical bloody slow start - same old same old.
Then Big Bad Bustling Baz got off the ground and marked.
Best was Baz by a mile. He ran really hard, put loads of forward pressure on, didn't sook and kicked truly.
B1 had an OK game I thought. Kirky was a star as was B2 and Leo - all three captains stood up. Goodes was very quiet early on but worked his way into the game and Magic was simply Magic at times. Moore and Jack were excellent and even Bevo did well. It was one of those games where everyone contributed which was really good to see for a change.
Barlow was annoying me a little just banging it long without looking or putting it to advantage but I do like that he backed himself.
Port were very down right across the ground. They looked very hot and didn't handle the conditions well.
Just got home too - and would struggle to name who the best were. Which sometimes is a good thing
Has to be said that Port were woeful - we gave them plenty of chances but they were incapable of capitalising. But to be fair to our boys, they created far more than they stuffed up.
My major qualm is that I want to see them play like that at night. Great though that was, so were many of their day performances last year. I still think there's a huge gulf in their intensity between night and day.
The Swans came to play with a totally attacking mindset today against Port.
What a terrific game to watch, i was dragged along to a Rugby Union (Waratahs game) a couple of weeks ago, what a yawn.
Well played Swans, you looked like you totally enjoyed playing that way.
If it brings Leo to kick a goal, Bevan, LRT etc that must have totally demoralised Choco.
No 39 needs to learn to weave and dogde a bit when he gets in the clear.
Top four looks a possibility on that performance.
"He was proud of us when we won and he was still proud of us when we lost' Tami Roos about Paul Sept 06.
They still made some silly mistakes in the first half, but as has been mentioned the pressure they put on Port was really good and eventually blew them away in the third quarter in a most enjoyable display. One of the biggest surprises for mine (well, apart from Bevan and LRT kicking goals ) was MO'L -- he was dynamic up forward! Liked the Cheese's game also.
Another top game from McVeigh this week. I much prefer him to Davis in the HFF role. Can be creative, and has the speed and workrate to create forward pressure.
Moore was busy, Hall is back.
Good win, especially considering our output from Goodes and Kennelly was nowhere near potential.
