    What I liked about tonight.
Jack bursting thru the guts, passing to Bird, having the confidence to keep running to accept the handball and have a ping.
Barlow sidestepping two tackles and hitting Hall lace out.
Moore and Bird combining brilliantly for a goal.
Moore's great goal just before half time.
    Barlow's terrific snap under pressure.

I'm looking forward to the response from all the knockers who have said that our kids can't develop properly in the Canberra comp. Sure the pace of the game resulted in many of the kids getting caught HTB a few times, but overall their contribution to tonights win was fantastic.

    Very pleased.

Right on about Richards. He did two great saves in the last few minutes. What a good pick up he was.
Spot on Annie, he saved us two goals I reckon.

Moore is going to be a champ.

More probably his name is Tim Schmidt. Or maybe, when he gets a bit more experienced, Craig Bird. They are the two that look most obvious replacements to play at centre bounces in a Jude type role in the short to medium term.

Vezspremi's looks like a cracker, but I reckon he'll start out his senior career in more of a Nick Davis role.

Well we do have a certain midfielder with a great kick out injured who might be back soon if you want to head down that path

In truth Jude in the guy who goes in and gets the ball out of the pack and gets it to the good kicks in the team. Kirk is the best player on the team at doing that and doesn't appear to be dropping his workrate but Jude does somewhat. Jude however isn't going to be dropped anytime in the next month whether we want to face that fact or not.

Bird and Schmidt are the next in line to take over from Kirk and Jude and thus would get gametime in that role regardless of whether of who was in the side. Bird is in the side now and is getting time in the middle and is impressing but seriously he can't be expected to take over the role played by Jude Bolton fulltime and Tim Schmidt while we know he is up to the job, has to earn his spot in the senior side again and thats after he gets back to full fitness.

To be honest I don't see Nick Davis offering anything "extra" to our midfield that we don't already have. I'm not saying we shouldn't play him, I'm saying - find him a role in the forward line that works for him and the team. Until then its best that he isn't in the side.

13 goals isn't really a spectacular return and the first week had much bigger problems.
13 goals in our style is a good return when the midfield chipped with so many goals and we got a nice spread. Nick Davis being in the team wouldn't of made any difference to the scoreline or how we played tonight, saying he would is just holding out false hope.

As I said for the first week, he didn't make a difference in the result because he played and we still lost. He got the ball in the forward line and got a goal and also missed. But then again so did others that night hence the blame doesn't lie with him, nor does the expectations lie at his feet to kick goals every week. Too much pressure is placed upon his shoulders to do too much when, he just has to go out there and play and do his best.

Yep, I'll bite about the Canberra comp - it's just no good!

Can you tell me, who played a fair dinkum game in that league last week and the week before?

You know how seriously we take Practice matches?

It is STILL a joke, will be for a while more, then the Swans will come to their senses.

Don't think Moore is a product of the ACTAFL - the VFL is way better - ask Tadhg.

You can as long as you keep on your mark. If you deviate from your mark whilst over the boundary, it is out of bounds.

Just finished watching the highlights of each quater, which included each and every goal, and thought I'd list the things that had me most excited: (Or not so excited)

                        - McVeigh's poise seems to have lifted to a whole new level, and I think he's truly starting to believe in himself and use that talent that we all know he has!

                        - The pure class of Cheese. How good is this kid!? He looked so composed stepping past those two Lions and then drilling the pass to Hall. His goal in the last quater was just as brilliant, and he got excited, too!

                        - How fit does Moore look? He's a midget but boy does he look strong, and he even gave it to the crowd a little after his 2nd goal. It's a toss up between his 2nd goal and Barlow's goal for the best of the match, they were both pearlers!

                        - Even in "greasy" conditions we didn't seem to stuff around with it as much, and our decision making seems much sharper than it was last year. There were some shocking turn overs, but have you ever seen a match where one team NEVER makes a mistake?

                        - Leo is on his last legs and I'm still not sold on LRT. I think White needs to be groomed as a defender and thank God for Ted!

I listened to the game on SEN last night, which was an excruciatingly disorienting experience. This morning I watched the game highlights on AFL.com (finally got it working), which at least allowed me to understand the context of gibberish descriptions of incognito Sydney players from the night before.

                          Between the two, I deduced...

                          1. Moore was involved in a lot of our goals. Watching the replay, his ability to create by doing the unexpected (e.g.tap over to bird) is awesome.

                          2. I am ready to eat my humble pie about McVeigh. I have previously said he would not make it. I was wrong. He was everywhere last night and follows up two excellent games. It took him a while, but he has arrived. Kudos to those who kept the faith (am ready to jump off the wagon at a moment's notice though).

                          3. It was a great blend of old and new. I said previously I had adjusted my expectations of this season if we played some of the next generation. Young players often seem to struggle as the season drags into the cold and dark twilight afternoons of winter. But for the moment, I am really enjoying the ride.

                          Go swans!

Some of you Make me laugh!!! Leo did not play well tonight but I disagree that he is on his last legs. I do however think he plays better when he is in the back pocket or flank where he has played the last two games and played so well. Tonight he was full back which is not his choice. Bradshaw kicked 5 - 2 of which were from MOL turnover and one when Craig Bolton was on him. Also the ball was coming down quite quickly from turnovers and sometimes not much Leo could really do - Roosey actually said this in his post-match conference. He did look very down though. Obvioulsy quite disappointed in himself.

I don't think it is necessary to bag him so personally. It is funny - when Leo Barry has a good game it is not mentioned but as soon as he has a bad one you "supporters" can't wait to give it to him. I really think that Bradshaw was on fire and the marks he took where from great kicks that hit him right on the chest - not sure if any other player would have done any better. He is a big strong boy.

Anyway what does it matter - we won - move on. Leo's first bad game for the season. Kirky had his first good game for the season.......

Sorry I just don't agree with attacking players. Yeah he did not play as well as he has been playing - the end.

                              Well said Allison.

Yet again we are the #1 defensive side so our boys down back must be doing something right.

A team is more than the sum of its parts and Leo obviously provides leadership and inspiration (or he wouldn't be a captain).

Watching the St Kilda game on Friday I was thinking how past it Robert Harvey looked. Then last night I thought how inspiring he must be to the rest of the team. I'm not arguing that a player should be kept on just for the sake of it but if some of the fans had their say and players like Leo, Hall and Mickey O were dropped then it would be interesting to see what that does for the team confidence and spirit.
