    C. Bolton is an absolute star!! He will be in the Dream Team for sure.

Goodes, Kirk, McVeigh, Richards, Kennelly played well again.

I am feeling more optimistic about this season than a fortnight ago!!

Right with you on all of that Matt79, we went up for the game (btw - the Gabba was great, as was the Pineapple Hotel afterwards) - Bolto was absolutely awesome on Browny, he'll probably get the same assignment for the dream team!

Davo then didnt end up with a group and then sat on the fence talking to someone he knew. He couldnt give a @@@@ !
After that I didnt see him at all, everyone has there little bitch they hate and he is mine. Cant keep living off that game Davo Im afraid .
That experience is completely different to every time that I've seen him doing something with kids. He is quite popular with kids, and I think that is because has more time than a lot of players for them.

It was actually my son who started thinking he is the bee's knees first, which has then resulted in him becoming my defacto favourite player. My son used to be extremely shy, at a Swans junior clinic a couple of years ago Davis was running a goal kicking drill and noticed my son being a little timid. He spent a lot of time with him, then when my son's group was moving onto the next drill he waited back to say "thanks Nick". Davis asked him his name and said he'd meet up with him later in the day. A couple of hours later he actually sought my son out, had remembered his name and had an animated conversation with him. The impact on the confidence of my son that one act from Davis had was overwhelming. Although he said he would meet my son at the barbecue and we forgot and left without going to it, hopefully Nick could find someone to play with

I don't think Nick Davis should be in the seniors just because he was nice to my son (on several occasions, actually), I just think he is in the best 22.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Leo is no doubt at the end of his carreer and he will not get any better and though until there is someone better to bring in for him he will always be in our best 22 and thats why he still is a Captain.
So many positives to come out of last night , we should be wrapt of our start this year !!

excellent views there. i was at the Gabba and watched the matchups closely (well for Qs 1 & 3, anyhow) and Leaper did little wrong, or different from Bolto on Browny, to suggest that he is past it. If Bolto was excellent (and I agree he was), Leaper was, at worst, beaten by a good opponent and at best a bit unlucky.

And not taking away from C Bolton doing a great job - but Brown was not the go too man last night and delivery of the ball to him was not that great - credit to C Bolton though.

And he is right. Jack, Barlow, Moore, Grundy are not just filling spots. They are making telling contributions at critical stages of the game. They are well drilled, all look very very fit and certainly strong enough to hold their own.

Bird is a bit of a furphy given that he's come in straight from U18 level. Though he'd have had no chance last year to play the odd few games with his (now) clubmates had we been farming out a dozen players to a VFL team.

It's not about whether the current set-up is perfect. It's about what the most viable option is, given where the club is located.

All that Im saying Liz, is that I think that standard isnt the ideal scenario for our young kids to prepare themselves for what they will get in the real stuff.
They are playing against smaller bodies , less prepared players and against game plans that are nowhere near the levels of those other comps.
As I said though until a more suitable situation were to ever arise we are stuck with what we have and I would much prefer what we have now than what we had in The Port Melbourne alliance.
Dont deny whatsoever those above mentioned are more than holding there spots though

Im sure Davo has done many great things off field Stell and your story is a good one that you and your young lad had.
Im talking about the one we had though and the situation Davo is in right now. Am I right, I wouldnt know though I rekon this is the attitude that gets him in the @@@@ he is in now. There was no way he dropped for that St Kilda performance
Do I think he is in our best 22 RIGHT NOW as in next week : No I dont.
Davo has never been my favorite ,Im not denying that as I mark him hard , though I would have him in our best 22 no doubt when his attitude is right

                        Back from the game -

For the public record; them Lions fans are all good. Sat in the Lions members and with a few 'boyz', there was some good banter. Salutations of 'good game' all round at the end. 'Rivals' my ass.

More Bulldog Moore please. Macca everywhere. Adam has skills.

Some rain beforehand, so was a little concerned but there was only a few moments where I was really worried.

The BL fans never thought they were really in it. Which was nice. Throat is still raw.

                        Will go back next year

(hopefully the bogans will stop breeding (in Brisbane generally) so much. What? oh dear..)

Going by the most-replied-to threads in the RWO Chat Archive, this thread is, at least, the longest match day thread. The next longest was, ironically, also for a game against the Lions, in Round 3, 2005. Hard to forget that one!! (the comeback game)

Edit: Nope, I was wrong. Second-longest was the QF 2005 game thread. (358 replies) The Lions game was further down the list. Though with 500+ replies this thread is clearly the longest game day thread.

There is a middle aged lady who sits behind me at the home games parroting ALL the time "get in front". I'd had enough once and (am ashamed to admit it) gave her such a spray that it silenced the crowd. You cannot simply "play in front". It's a nonsense. A backman will be "wearing" his opponent, until (predictably) the forward (Bradshaw in this case) makes the play. ie. signals by his run, or dummy, to receive delivery of the ball. Guess what .. he'll be the one IN FRONT.

If I EVER see this inane sort of comment again I'll explode.

                            Save me.

Anyways, corker win - love the new boys, old boys did well (even if Leo & Magic had me cursing a few times), Goodesy turned up to play when we needed him. Probably should have won by more but I'll take it.
