The ACTUAL performance of a person on ice would be worse than somebody not on ice. It would prevent the player from being able to focus on the game, and would physically exhaust the player. Even if a player doesn't FEEL exhausted, it doesn't mean they won't suffer from fatigue. It will keep the player awake, but it won't magically give them extra carbohydrates to burn for energy. The player will reach his limit in just as much time, if not less; he just won't realise it. So he'll just end up playing @@@@, and not knowing why.
