In assessing any penalty with the standard range of results, whether it be in the criminal law courts, or a country footy sub-committee, there has to be a comparison factor. Hence why 1, to 4 must be seen as relevant factors.
I'm not sure if contrition counts so much in tribunal hearings.

One punch is normal in suspensions, so I don't think that provides much benefit.

I've never seen them give a lesser charge because it was a direct opponent or a greater charge because it wasn't.

Needling is part of the game - happens to most players most games, so provocation is not likely to be a defence.

All just my opinion of course.

I don't think there will be a defence, he will just plead guilty and hope for the best.

Barry Hall has no defence. My point is that these factors represent submissions as to what is an appropriate penalty.

I should have said 'mitigation' not 'defence'.

Has the MRP made a decision yet on whether to flog the case off to the tribunal or what?

Yeah. I mean, it's not like Staker is his girlfriend, and he hit him with a wine glass.
