Not a bad idea Matt, but I'd be wary as Spida's opponent could be instructed to run off him at every opportunity to exploit his lack of fitness.

I think it might work well against the Roos next week. Their key defenders probably don't have the same rebound instinct that the Cats' do. But agree that it might expose us a bit against Geelong.

And if it is its normal wet, windy self in Geelong this week, we'd be better off not going too tall.

Very true. I guess to counter that, someone like Barlow or Bevan as an example has to be instructed to play on Spider's defender when they run out from the defensive 50.

Also with Ottens out, Spider's height could be handy as well.

Also weather forecast...fine and 25 degrees!!

OK, back to the topic...don't think there should be any changes (other than the obvious)...Think Birdy is getting more comfortable and as someone said before, he will learn a lot from playing against guys the calibre of Geelongs midfield. Also excited for Jacky...will be a great test for him and no doubt his sharp learning curve will continue this weekend!

          Ha Ha....

I'll be watching it live.... in Hong Kong!!! Woo Hoo....

First live game for the season!

Sigh. So you reckon Bevo doesn't tackle enough FFS? He played on Thompson who played most of the second half in the forward line. His role in the team is as a link man and middle channel stopper. Is this getting too complicated for you? He played well against West Coast - hit targets, stifled his opponent and linked the defense to the half forwards. Bevan is developing into a Stewie Maxfield - hard tackler, strong runner and a low trajectory hard 50 metre pass. He won't be dropped for this or any other game in the forseeable future.

I don't mind Bevan. He has a role to play and usually does it adequately.

But if you start trying to draw parallels between him and Maxfield I'll be on the Bevo-bashing-bandwagon with a bang!

Why would it be when no other Saturday afternoon game is live to air in Melbourne? Just be thankful it is actually on TV.

Strangely enough, a very early game at Homebush v. Melbourne, Thompson gave us an awful caning in the first half. I was banging on about 'Who the hell is on Armstrong, he is carving us up' My mate said WTF am I talking about, he's barely had a touch. After a heated and animated argument, I finally realised that #6 was actually Thompson, not Armstrong

Spooky that many years later and they've both since moved onto different clubs, you also got them mixed up.
