Davis is a crap user of the footy as well as being oneof the softest players I have seen in Swans Guernsey
According to Footy Record
Kicking Effectiveness
Davis 56.2%
Bevan 77.1%
He's a shocker, his weekend game was abysmal, and typical of his performances against good sidesI knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

Are you not speculating just as much as anyone else with that comment?I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline

Originally posted by NMWBloodsMy statements have been that he has contributed as a useful member of the team in the past three years and the stats support that.
I fail to see how the pro-Davis faction can argue he has been anything else but useless so far this year. Arguing that Bevan, Bolton, Buchanan et al have also had periods of uselessness and retained their position doesn't make it right for Davis to keep his place when he is so obviously totally low on confidence and out of form. Hall's suspension opened the door for him, but it also means it is even more important that Davis is not there because he is giving us NOTHING.
His only saving grace has been that he is such a great, reliable kick for goal. Now even that has deserted him, reasons irrelevant.
He must go. No way is he in our top 22 at this point in time.Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment

You don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! You sit them in the front row. You give them a hat! Toby ZieglerComment

I was watching the Essendon v St Kilda game a couple of weeks ago and noted what a crap game Nathan Lovett-Murray had. He seemed to avoid almost every contest and just floated around hoping something would happen. (Sound Familiar). I was a bit surprised, as I think he is a rather talented player. Looking at his stats for the game, he had 11 disposals and 7 tackles. The tackle count alone would have you think that he was hard at it, but from observations it seemed like a miscount. Sure enough he was dropped to emergency list by Knights, but came in due to a late injury. Had a even worse game against Collingwood.
I don't know the details of that situation, but if team in such a desperate state as Essendon with so many critical injuries are willing to drop a tallish, quick talented player that can play forward and back, mainly from what I can see is lack of effort, then I don't see how Davis can get another game with his performance, which I wouldn't rate any better than Lovett-Murray's. This takes the Paul Roos thing out of the equation. I think Neil Craig, Mathew Knights, and number of other coaches would be even less forgiving than Roos under similar circumstances. I think Davis could get a regular game at Freo where wasted talents seem to go for long sabbaticals.
I am really disappointed that Davis hasn't made the adjustment to the new quicker game, because he is such a talented player and so very much needed at a time when we are down on goal kicking power. If only we could put Davis and Jude together and get a Steve Johnson. As much as I lament Jude's poor kicking, I don't think there is any question as to who would get selection and who would get the axe if it came to that.
I remember a couple of years back when Roos wanted to give Davis more time in the midfield, but that didn't pan out for the obvious reasons. It will be a real pity if Davis can't lift his game, because he should have a few more good years left and is capable of making a very big contribution when he applies himself. And I am sure Paul Roos would love to have Davo's kicking abilities in the team on a regular basis. Certainly Mathew Knights also lamented about dropping Lovett-Murray, but it's hard to know what to do about these sorts of players. When you are asking every team member to lift to make up for some big losses do to injury, it's hard to countenance such poor efforts.Comment

It's nice to see a well-reasoned argument!Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

29th eh? wow thats impressive..with his ability and so called talent he should be in the top 10 at least. 29th is nothing to be proud of for such a prodigy.
MOL does more and offers more than what Nick does and Mickey takes the 2nd best defender. I have no complains with Mickey, sure he goes missing but i hardly think he deserves the @@@@ dumped on him from the "Nick Davis Appreciation Club" on here.Does God believe in Atheists?Comment

Try doing some simple maths. There are 16 teams in the comp. You could reasonably expect that each team would have 2 top goal kickers in the top 32 (16X2). Nick davis at 29 would then be in the Swans top two goal kickers per game for the club for the season. he should be proud of that, wouldn't you be?
Very few mid sized fulltime forwards exist now
Many have midfielders who push forward, or the reverse. Davis is too soft to play midfield/onball
Clubs like Geelong get a good spread of goals from their midfielders, nominally they play James Kelly in the same position, but he would kick fewer goals than Davis but provide far more valueYou don't ban those who supported your opponent, you make them wallow in their loserdom by covering your victory! No one is against Nick Davis - just a lot of us are sick and tired of waiting for Nick Davis to replicate what he did in 2005 against the cats. We have waited long enough and basically we are fed up with the continual spin thrown around by a few nd many of us can now see what Roos see's. We know what Roos wants out of Nick and we can see that Nick won't be able to deliver.
As i said Nick Davis will be a poster boy for Western Sydney in 2011 and will do enough to drum up a rivalry by coming out and slagging the swans and Roos. Just wait and see.Comment
