If Mathews doesn't get a game this week, I don't think he'll play all season (short of a diabolical injury run). The Dogs have two hard-nosed, slowish ball-winners who, if not checked, will feed their skilful runners all afternoon. Kirk will take one, Ablett would have taken the other. In Ablett's absence, Mathews has to be the logical replacement if he has any role still to play in the senior team.
Would like to see Smith get another go, but I'm not sure who he'd replace. And I'd rather White stayed in for one more match too, instead of either Everitt or Playfair, but it seems pretty clear that won't be happening.

And we'll see the usual dour performance, full of turnovers and backward kicks slowing the play. I hope I'm wrong (often am) and Smith or Brennan get another run.
