If Mathews doesn't get a game this week, I don't think he'll play all season (short of a diabolical injury run). The Dogs have two hard-nosed, slowish ball-winners who, if not checked, will feed their skilful runners all afternoon. Kirk will take one, Ablett would have taken the other. In Ablett's absence, Mathews has to be the logical replacement if he has any role still to play in the senior team.

Would like to see Smith get another go, but I'm not sure who he'd replace. And I'd rather White stayed in for one more match too, instead of either Everitt or Playfair, but it seems pretty clear that won't be happening.

I'd have no problem with Benny coming in.
He's sitting on 196 games, I'd like to see him at least get those 4 he needs for 200, and he'll do a job for us.

Old habits die hard.....I fear, as others have suggested, Roos will replace Ablett with Matthews. And we'll see the usual dour performance, full of turnovers and backward kicks slowing the play. I hope I'm wrong (often am) and Smith or Brennan get another run.
If Playfair ,or White, and Everitt play, as well as Matthews......slow! slow! slow! Dogs runners will be licking their lips....We need some pace to match the doggies and apply pressure...they hate pressure .

Would like to see Matthews back in.

            That felt really strange.

I don't mind Mathews in for Ablett. One negative stopper in for another. I would prefer we put an attacking player in, but I'm not sure if we really have a ready one.

Well Nick has gorn again. Interesting how a no talent stale bread roll on the HFF, who can't kick over a jam tin and is not worth a crumpet gets to stay in the team without comment. Here is a player who now has no redeeming aspects to his game, who had every Swans supporter groaning uncontrollably twice within the space of a minute getting away with football larceny, keeping his place.

Nick Davis is made accountable for 2 woeful kicks for goal, got 2 points at least, yet this useless pile of bread crumbs sails along in the side as a genuine untouchable.

But I have just discovered the reason, I am sure. At the start of the season he had 187 games up plus 6 this season gets him to 193, and if my theory is correct when he reaches 200 he becomes a life member. Could be the only possible reason known to man.

If the club thinks the little "clothes horse" club model is in form, then I can't wait to see him when he is out of form.

                      Great spray!

I can't say I disagree. Maybe the club is just wanting to get its money's worth... afterall he did inexplicably get a pay rise at the end of last season.

Except that at the Swans the cut-off for life membership is 150 games...

Does seem early for Playfair to be in, but if he's match fit, he should be played. We need a marking target up forward and that's why he was tapped.

He doesn't have a particularly brilliant footy history, but neither did B2, Teddy, etc.

He can surely do better than the last tall the Cats offloaded on us.

IMO if Mathews is in for Ablett then its our loss as i think Ablett is far more valuable to the team than Benny.

Altho they do similar jobs Ablett has better decision making skills and generally better over all.

I'll say this for one thing Mathews is a better set shot at goals than Ablett.
