You wait till they finish this new stand. I reckon the whole northern corner of the new stand will not be able to see the match at all because it is tucked away behind the southern corner of the Bill O'Reilly Stand.
The architects for the ground should be seriously shot. If we can see the major problems arising before the new stand is finished, then why can't they?
Meanwhile huge problems like the lack of space under the Brewongle/Churchill Concourse have NEVER been rectified. That place at big games is at a standstill. You seriously can't move at all.

On reflection, the strangest thing is the SCG Trust ruling out a Swans legend.
They are saying the Trust members would guide them, surely the trust members would vote overwhelmingly for a cricket legend anyway. Seems a bit silly of them to rule out anyone from either of the two sports played on the ground these days.Comment

The SCG is the worst ground i have ever been too. It's a pastiche of outdated and horrible grandstands and is such a patchwork quilt. It's embarrassing and to think it was a premier ground even 10 years ago makes me giggle. I like the old SCG with the hill. At least the ground looked consistent.
I think it's time we move on and leave this vomit of a ground. @@@@ the sCG trust.Comment

one wonders how much the swans put into the SCG coffers over a season,in comparison to what cricket does annually,,i dare say SWANS...like when was the last time a pura cup match attracted 30.000.........Comment

If it puts them off their game good,if it helps us win good i dont care just as long as Australia wins. Now this is a thread that i would expect on the ego -centric, wank session that is redandwhiteonline.com...

I believe the manner in which you play the game is just as important as winning. It's disappointing that you don't seem to care about being a good sport. In my opinion, poor sportsmanship diminishes the value of winning.Comment

THe SCG Trust to get off their high horses and admit that the ground is not JUST a cricket ground & is an all-purpose facility of which their major tenant is the SYDNEY SWANS. That's all! Not too hard is it?

PS:- The Lions have never had the problems with a rock hard cricket pitch area at the Gabba in the Early Round that we had this season. Oh & the Gabba ground curators don't water the ground (either negligently or deliberately) before big rugby league finals, do they?
there is no need to name a grandstand after a swans player , after all it is a cricket ground....the only 'named' stands at the mcg are named after cricket players...so where is the issue...
its just jf banging on again like a schoolgirlComment

I always have pleasant memories of footy at the SCG those balmy winter Sundays, a spaghetti at no names with my (then) young son, waltz up and park near the ground and then watch us get thumped with a few thousand intimate friends....and some insulting travelling fans from Victoria who never seemed to appreciate the "Gaspo balloon promotions" and the Swannettes.... " this isn't football..this is an @@@@ing circus...BUT
I hate the Trust and have not forgotten how they shafted us for years with a ridiculous contract where we could simply not make money and probably went a long way to pushing us to the brink of extinction in the early 90s.
And Rodney Cavalier an ex union official, an ex Wran government man and now fulltime every bloody Committee Man...ho hummmm.... how about The Rex Buckets Jackson Stand, The Nifty Nev Stand..The Morgan Ryan Stand..or the Jobs For The Boys Stand?Sports do not build character. They reveal it....Heywood Broun
I always turn to the sports pages first, which record people's accomplishments. The front page has nothing but man's failures......Earl WarrenComment

Firstly, to all the Steve Waugh bashers on this thread, get real! He was without a doubt one of the finest cricketers & captains to ever play for Australia.
Now that I've gotten that off my chest, on to the real issue. While I would have no problem with naming the stand after either S Waugh or R Benaud, I truly think it is about time the SCG Trust acknowleged that the Swans are a part of SCG history( admitedly only the last 25 years) & named the new stan d after one of the greatest Swans of all. THE TONY LOCKETT STAND!
After all, Plugger provided one of the greatest moments ever at the SCG when he kicked goal number 1300 & broke Coventrys record.Red & White forever.Comment
