Just in from balmy Adelaide where all of us who went had an excellent time! One of the BEST EVER AWAY WINS this club has EVER had! The 2003 final all over again! And from a personal perspective, THE BEST INTERSTATE AWAY SUPPORT WE HAVE EVER HAD!

I'm still so excited & happy I probably won't sleep much tonight. I'm so proud of the boys once again showing the mental toughness to fight it out when Port looked to have their measure midway through the last quarter. Sure we had problems in defence. And we were very very lucky Port lost their only real reliable focal point up forward in Ebert midway through the last quarter. But to not only see us come back but to see youngsters like Moore & Schmidt kick the winning goals is just so exciting!

Footy Park on a sunny Saturday is a great place to watch the game. Port games are far more comfortable than Crow games, as there are spare seats & you can spread out. And contrary to their reputation the Port supporters were actually excellent. There was no nastiness or anything at all in the crowd with the Port supporters in the bays around us trying to outchant us, and losing!

From a personal perspective I cannot thank the club enough for what they are doing in putting time money & effort into developing interstate supporter & membership bases for the club. We now have just on 120 paid-up members in SA. And had more than 1000 supporters in Bay 140 ALL TOGETHER chanting & supporting the team very very vocally.

We had a really pleasant & interesting pre-match function at the West Lakes International before the game where Myles Baron-Hay & Stephen Brassel (who I swear can talk for 20 minutes non-stop without stopping for air ) spoke to us about various things. It is always great to meet the interstate fans who get to see the team only once in the year. Just like our brilliant fans in WA the mainly local SA Swans fans were not only great to be with, but were knowlegeable & passionate. The Port supporters I chatted to today at the SANFL said they were very surprised at how many of us there were as well as how loud we were.

This weekend was one of the BEST away trips I have ever done in supporting the Swans. To see us come back like we did (with our young guns leading the way!!!) is just awesome. To make a difference was even better. I think those of us who were there yesterday know what I'm talking about.

Believe me mate, it was just as bad being there. I was losing it at one stage in the last quarter. Even at the end of the game my legs were all jittery and shaky.

My hat goes off to you JF, you did a great job getting Bay 140 going. I went with three mates and we had a brilliant day, despite the no alcohol in your seat rule! (What happened to the drum, did security take it away?)

That last quarter was simply spine tingling stuff, it has to be up there with my favourite away matches ever. The slow Sydney chant after McVeigh's goal to put us 12 up was electric, made sweeter by watching the feral bogans staring at us while they were leaving the ground. (Mind you I do like their passion!)

On a side note, it was my first trip to Adelaide and I declare it the bogan/tracky dack capital of Australia They surely have more per capita than anywhere else!

Wasn't that a bit exciting?? The last 10 minutes of that game were murder.

Two things I liked from that game ... Bevo's goal in the first quarter - brilliant.

Kirky (31 possessions) ... every single time he got the ball and he was in congestion - he kicked it forward to our advantage - Buchanan was doing it as well, although not as much. Brilliant. If that's part of the new game plan, I'm all for it.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Well said mate. I was sitting up behind the cheer squad and the noise they were making were fantastic. I thought the Port supporters were fine, and a million times better then the Eagles supporters.

Great place to watch footy and will definitely be going back next year!

He was a fantastic leader. Helped swing the match our way in the last quarter & was ferocious as ever.

We were out on the banner & Williams quipped "You lot are the most attractive looking cheer squad I've seen. And that was because BonBon & her mum had just walked by!

Port people also said he stormed off the field at about the 20 minute mark of the last quarter. Was that true? He is often cocky, often uncouth in the things he says. But you can't say he ain't colourful or good for the game can you? (Still reckon he is an awful coach at times, but that is just me)

You should have seen the Port-Centrals SANFL game the next day mate. Compared to that Saturday was truly upper class. The outer side consisted of 99% bikers & working class men, standing on gravel with a ciggie in one hand & a tinnie in the other. No women, few kids. A picture of what footy crowds used to be like before we had Telstra Dome & a roof over our heads. I even met a guy in Port Magpies Cheer Squad who brought his own knuckle duster just in case any Centrals boys wanted a stoush or too. Like WTF!

And guess who decided to stand on the wing in the outer in my Swans rugby shirt?

You were lucky that it was sunny. That drab piece of concrete pour is the nastiest place in the country to watch footy on a cold, wet day. As for Port supporters trying to out cheer you, on the TV all they did the entire game, in typical Port fashion, was boo; boo us, boo the umps, boo their own team, boo their mate for spilling his beer, boo every bloody thing.

The entire section of Swans supporters at the southern end looked and sounded great.

Got to agree, was my first time there also and we had a ball. Also agree about the supporters, In the bus queue afterward, so many where shattered but every one to a man was polite about it - so different to WCE fans.

Hate to spoil it but Swans win.

Not surprising really, Port are an average patchy team.

Thanks for all the reports from you guys at the game, looking fantastic from the grabs you got on TV.
That was an outstanding, gutsy, one percenter magic effort by the Swans, and agree it was one of the best away wins.
The last pulsating 10 mins, Mattner's finger tip spoil on Ebert (certain goal), his follow up tackle on Pearce (certain goal), the split second skill of Kirk in heavy duty traffic (note Choco's massive compliment to him post match interview), that mark of Smidtt's from Kirk, the text book Banana, the tackle of Jack (he and his Dad featured in 60 mins piece on Ch 9 last nite - great viewing) and the individual poise and strength of Moore.
I thought Roosy underplayed the win, but that is his clever way.
Port were desperate to win this game, Choco on the boundary doin a Roos, definitely fancied they were going to roll over the top of Sydney after Motlop kicked that inspirational 53m goal with 10 to go.
"He was proud of us when we won and he was still proud of us when we lost' Tami Roos about Paul Sept 06.

I missed the game mate but hope to see a replay later this week. Its good to see the kids (including Bevo) improving - apparently Moore had a ripper.
