Big win for us, bigger loss for Port.

They're 3-6 now, probably need to win 9 of last 13 to make finals.

Great effort to get back up when they were on top and had so much to play for.

It looks from the stats that Kieran Jack had a good game. Is that an accurate reflection...also Jude Bolton statted well..Hardly heard his name when I was able to listen. What was that about?

hAHA. I've regained speech. Good on the umpires for putting away the whistle. There were numerous free kicks which either side could have got, but in the end they let the teams play and the best team won.

Bevan, great game. Mickey O, ROK, Kirk, Jack, Moore all great. Mattner great. All the defenders - tough day at the office, especially for leo and ted but hey we won.

I think RP might have posted while you will still writing, but as he said Jude was very good and highly involved today.

Seriously the way we were playing when I made that comment, we were playing atrocious. Still can't believe we managed to get a win out of that.

Agree with Big Al about Marty M's tackle. It was the pivotal moment in the quarter.

Jude was second behind Kirk in terms of possessions for the Swans. Kirk was pretty much guaranteed BoG.

                  Great win!

                  Sydney 16.9 105
                  Port Adelaide 14.10.94

It looked like the Swans would choke but luck came our way in the end with Ebert injured and 2 quick goals to seal the win. It started off as a real shoot out with the Swans appearing to run away with the game early on but poor defence and Ebert's 6 goal haul kept them in the game.

It's been a while since the opposition have outnumbered the Swans in possession and hitouts but in the end more goals were the result of some great kicking by Moore, Monty and McVeigh. The backline was disappointing and needs to be improved.

Kirky dominated in possessions with 31 touches, 5 more than the nearest possession winner. Goodes and Moore stepped up late in the game. Spida and Jolly were disappointing and beaten by Lade and Brogan in the ruck (51 hitouts to 24). MOL was quiet until he kicked 2 quick goals and Playfair was ordinary. Malceski hasn't reached his peak as expected and should've spent as least a week in the reserves to get some match practice.

I dunno why Port were favourites coming into this match given our good record against them and at AAMI but the Swans will be red hot favourites up against the Tigers at SCG. It should be a ripper with the Tigers showing a lot of fight but will be probably fade away in the 2nd half.
I only support one team: The SYDNEY SWANS!!!!! :adore

My God my poor heart!!! That was a gutsy win. I did think that Port were very lucky on quite a few holding the ball decisions that they didn't get pinged for.

Did enough to force the error and against a smaller and quicker opponent....

I don't often yell at the TV, but there was definite yelling late.

Gutsy effort from the boys - out on their feet, fall behind and then find a way to manufacture goals and win. Huge win!

Mattner's tackle on Pearce - that was the game turning moment right there, coz if he kicks that goal it's game over. Then Moore, 3rd time lucky kicks the goal to tie. And then Schmidt under pressure and Macca.....wow.

I must say that the intensity was finals-like and the way the last qtr was going, it reminded me a lot of the 05GF, and the umps put the whistles away - lots of stuff they could have pulled up but they let it go and it made it a better game for it.

On the downside, LRT looked very uncertain - seems like he's reverted to bad habits. Eski is showing he still has a way to go, but there were a few passes that were him at his best, so with a couple more runs under his belt he'll come good.

On the upside, Jarred Moore was fantastic all day, Kirky led from the front when it really mattered, Mattner showed courage to keep running when he was spent, Jolly continued his great form and Jude Bolton had a game situation that suited his desperation perfectly.

Now we just have to make sure we don't suffer a letdown next week!

                        I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Because they, and in particular their better players have been in really good form. It just didn't translate into 4 points against the Hawks.

We'd beaten a team that everybody else is pumping and prior to that lost a game at home.

That along with the fact it was at AAMI (as you said) meant they were (justifiably) favourites.
