Sure hope the panel judges on Monday/Tuesday recognise the totally awesome game Goodes played and therefore decide that his head-high bump wasn't entirely intentional as he was going for the ball for the entirety of the match.

But WHAT A WIN to the Swannies. Only just came across these forums, should've found them much, much earlier. 7 3 1... 4 wins in a row. A steal, but hey, the umps & the commentators, particularly Sir Glen Jakovich with his 'Weages are home' prognosis were unconditionally biased. Jakovich is a loser.

i thought outside a couple of opportunistic goals from mcveigh tonight, he was rubbish. Far too want mistakes. We were very lucky to get away with a win tonight. Good sides win when playing poorly tho. Malceski sensational tho,

JUst got off the phone with RWO member bennyfrou who was at the game and he said the weagles fans were sniping at him hardcore after the match. very agro. i thought they would be used to losing by now they are the most piss poor losers in the comp, the term gracious in defeat just doesnt apply to the losers from th west. i hope freo get a couple of wins this year just so they can stick it right up the wankers in blue and yellow!

I would disagree...it's the first time we've chased down a big lead (more than 3 goals) from ANY point in ANY match since round 3 2005 at the Gabba.....3 years since we came back from being 20 points down at any point in a match. We have, however, come back to LOSE by a point or three many, many times.....that shouldn't count, IMO.

He does have the skills, but I think it'll be back to the ACT for the Cheese until he improves his hardness.

Also, how good was McVeigh tonight??? That goal from the boundary line was a beauty...was also impressed by his ability to keep his feet and maintain a cool head under pressure, one of the few that could hold his head up high for his performance over the whole game.
I disagree. I thought he was disgraceful in the first half. Being led to the ball every time by his opponent, waiting for the ball to come to him, really bad stuff (done by all except richards and jude I thought). Made up for it in the second half, as did all the swans players. Once they started wanting the ball, the tables turned.

I would believe that North Melbourne deserves that title better than the Swans. They are known for "coming from behind" wins or "never die" attitude.

The Swans give up too easily, especially in the last quarter. Tonight's game was an exception.

He was terrible wasn't he. I don't think he won one contest tonight.

If we had of lost tonight, WE would have lost it ourselves. The Eagles were not good in the first half - we were asleep. Tough gutsy win in the end. Very lucky indeed but thoroughly deserved.

While 3 goals isn't a big lead, I'd pretty confidently say that that was inaccurate. Round 15, 2007 vs Carlton I think they might have got out to a 4 goal break before we reduced it to 2 at quarter time. There are a few others (e.g. Essendon at Homebush in 2005) where I'd also say that we were behind by more than 3 goals at some stage.

To 'not count' occasions where we lost by a point I don't think really rebuts the point being made (that we're a tough, never-say-die team with great self-belief). It's not like the teams that were 5 or 7 goals up said to themselves, 'Ahhh, we can go easy and let the Swans come back at us 'cos we know we'll be able to hold that one point buffer at the end of the game'.

The fact is, when we're down, we come back, better than any other team in the league. Possibly better than any other team I've ever seen.

That's the reputation, but the reality is that the Roos have individual miracle comebacks intermittently. They don't near-to measure up to us for consistent backs-against-the-wall performances. 3 out of their last 4 finals have been 15-goal-or-worse losses: that speaks for itself.

I think people's perceptions on this topic are (understandably) over-clouded by a particular minor round game late in 2004. Incidentally, in the weeks subsequent to that game, which put the Roos up into the 8:
                        * they were up by 4 points against St Kilda at half time, and lost by 51
                        * they were within 19 points of the Dogs at half time, before getting blown out to a 49 point 3/4 time deficit (eventually losing by 30)
                        * they were 27 points down to the Blions at half time, and lost by 113.

Yr comment about last quarters is very strange. The Swans come home in the last quarter like few other teams around. We're now 8-3 for final quarters in 2008; and one of those 'losses' was a win in the context of the game (being outscored by 3pts by Port Adel).

NOG was outstanding in the last 10 mins, very influential in getting us over the line, was surprised Roosey didn't mention him in the immdediate post match but I guess he was trying to think if he'd missed anyone else's birthday.

fantastic effort to get up from such a terrible start. And for Hunter to give away the free from which we won the game was such beautiful Karma I thought. Stoked we got the 4 points, and now need to make good of them by getting another 4 next week.
Tonights performance was far from our best, but gee I love the heart our team has. From a long way down and looking well beaten at half time, we lifted ourselves and managed somehow to fall over the line. NOG was fantastic in the last 10 minutes, by goodness that kick ootf was absolutely abysmal though!
