Davis at his 2005 best , I mean the run all day ROK type of movement, would be the logical inclusion for Goodsy.
Does he have that running ability to create or is he content to let it come to him ?
Thats what both he and the coaches have to decide!

I went back and watched the last quarter of the 2005 semi to have a look at Davis and see what the difference might between now and then.

While it's hard to pick up on TV rather than at the ground, the thing that is starkly different is the movement. For that quarter Davis was constantly on the move and he hit the contest at pace which then allowed him the time and freedom to use his sublime skills.

Fast forward to this year and the games I saw him live, he just wasn't moving at all and alot of the times he was stationary at stoppages waiting for the ball to come to him.

One thing you notice with ROK, Goodes (even McVeigh now) is that they are constantly moving whether that be to space, to make space, to be used coming through stoppages.

Roos and Co want the pressure skills, but above all I get the feeling they want Davis to get on his bike and get to more contests and when there hunt the ball, he is capable of doing it (see 2005 semi) we just need him to produce it now.

            About 100.

There are a few stray non-Nick "Davis" threads but most of the are him.
Then there are the ones that don't have "Davis" in the title.

And for all the talk of tackles being more important than kicks and handballs and goals, we outtackled the Eagles significantly, but we lost because we couldn't kick or handball or kick goals.

i would also question what playfair does in terms of pressure and tackles that davis doesnt and also how many scoring opportunities playfair generates that davis wouldnt.

i just find it frustrating some of the players we have seem to have such ordinary skills yet get picked time and time again over davis, who is a player who needs confidence etc and is dropped time and time again
Players greatest strength is his ability to take a pack mark. We have lacked a third tall on the forward line. His marking ability means that we can KICK IT LONG and GO UP THE GUTS without having to spot a leading Big Barry (who is not an exceptionally strong pack mark. Players adds a dimension that Davo doesn't. And Moore is quicker, harder at it etc, wtc that the KFC Kid.

You've seriously got confidence in Playfair taking "pack marks" when the ball goes down there? He's got reasonable hands one-out but give me a break.

He doesn't necessarily have to take the marks to add value there.

If he is out numbered or it is a big pack, bringing the ball to ground is advantageous. With Amon, Moore and McVeigh sniffing around, it becomes a more straightforward game.

playfair just spends most of the game jogging around not getting the ball though?

surely davis was getting to the same amount of contests in a bad week

Ha ha ha, putting Davis and contests in the same sentence is laughable. More like loose ball gets and free-kick chaser
