As much as I would hate to see him go, I wouldn't be super sure on Buchanan still being here next year.
He won't be delisted, but I reckon if the Swans want to target a player in trade week, Monty is one player who has some currency that I feel we can cover and he may be the player used as bait.
As I said, I'm not hoping it happens, but I wouldn't be making statements along the lines of 'No way Monty will go'.Driver of the Dan Hannebery bandwagon....all aboard. 4th April 09Comment

White and Laidlaw to get a lot more senior game time.
Currie, Vez, Thornton, Merideth and Murphy all pushing for debuts.
Faulks to continue his development.
That leaves Brabazon and DOK as extra cover in the younger group and they will want to step up next year.

Out for the season with a groin injury. I only put him in the list because what I have watched and have heard about at reserve level previously. Also, that if the retirements don't go ahead to plan, someone will probably have to go.
We have rookies we might want to promote aswell, so really this should be a discussion about rookies too and who gets promoted.
He definitely has ability, but I think he might have Dempster syndrome.
Basically he has the ability, but just doesn't seem confident enough to have a big impact.
Meredith is only a new draftee. Has another year to run on his contract. He really hasn't been able to show us what he is like yet, simply because he has not been on the paddock. In and out with injury.Comment

But DOK was from the super draft! I thought there were no duds there...
We cant seem to crack it for a good first round pick.He ate more cheese, than time allowedComment

Interesting some of the opinions here from my point of view the following changes will happen and my analysis of the youngsters & older players on our list at present:
Barlow: Needs to push for a regular birth in the seniors, this will help if he can be given a position and stick to it. Hopefully a wing man, or we can use his engine as a lead up HFF
Barry: Clangers & Errors occuring way too often. Not as important anymore as he was throughout the glory days of 05-06. Loyal servant but his services are no longer needed, holding back a youngster.
Bird: Needs to avoid second year blues. Should become a very solid midfielder and needs to develop his engine over the offseason. Very promosing.
Brabazon: Outside player with not the greatest skills, will be very lucky to get another year. Third year on the list and needed to make an impact this year.
Brennan: Top Up player, has not seen much game time this year. Reminds me of Spriggs, I can't see him providing anything more than Grundy or White etc. Just holding a younger player back. Possible delisting.
Crouch: to retire, loyal servant but cannot offer anymore to the team.
Currie: to be rushed in to develop as the second ruck to Jolly. Will see some regular football next season.
Everitt: to retire, stay on as a ruck coach for Currie.
Faulks: Still very slight, although has shown a rapid improvement this year, consistently named in the best for the Swans. Has great closing speed and is a great spoiler. Can see him as a furture general of the backline. Will see some games next year if development continues.
Grundy: Should get another year, can fill in as both a KPF or KPB however I think needs to be given a role and consistently try to play that roll. Eg. FF in the reserves for the whole year with the view of taking over after the O'Loughlin & Hall days.
Laidlaw: Will get another year, has been injury prone. Can see him really cementing his spot next year. Plays a similiar game to our rebounding backline and takes the game on. Very quick and reasonably tall.
Matthews: Retire, game has passed him by, Great servant.
Meredith: Second year, another development year.
O'Keefe: Massive investment, will really need a solid pre-season and to lift his work-rate and output. Given a second year due to what the recruiters saw in him.
Schmidt: Another year, was a very consistent player last year and has shown he can match it in the big-time. Will definatly need to be a regular next year, otherwise may not be given another year after next.
Smith: Shown great signs, has played this year. Coming off the Rookie list will be promoted next year. Has been an emergency over 10 times this year. Has excellent skills and will look to become a regular.
Thornton: One more year, due to his knee. Will definatly need to show signs of improvement. Senior football is a must next year.
Veszpremi: Second year, another development year, could possibly sneak a game in. Has great work rate and would not be suprised if he was playing next year.
White: Will be looking at getting a futher taste of senior football. Needs to settle on a position, I think a CHF should be made out of this kid.
Upgraded Rookies:
Beckmans: Can't comment can someone provide some insight.
Bruce:Can't comment can someone provide some insight.
Murphy: Project player, looks the goods, a second year on the rookie list, no expectation to play senior footy, if he can that would be a bonus. However, another development year is expected. Rookie list again with view of upgrade in 2010
O'Dwyer: Has shown some very good signs, however his skills have been questioned fairly regularly. Unsure if he can jump the queue that is ahead of him at getting a game. If he is first year another year on the rookie list is warranted, otherwise a tough decision awaits with his position.
Orreal: Project player, alot of question marks over him still. Has shown some good signs, a second year on the rookie list, no expectation to play senior footy, if he can that would be a bonus. However, another development year is expected. Rookie list again with view of upgrade in 2010
Terlich:Can't comment can someone provide some insight.
*I don't think it is the 2nd year for any of the above except for O'Dwyer, so may get a second year on the Rookie list. However I do believe Smith was a starting Rookie so add him to the upgrades, with O'Dwyer.Comment
