What do you think?
He calls Adam Goodes a protected species, then the AFL goes all hell bent, and suspends Goodes for a soft charge, and then suspends Buchanan for 4 bloody weeks to be seen as they're doing something against us and to stop the Victorian mentality, of the Swans being looked after all the time.Comment

It was me who said it and I stand by it. Matthews comments were seized upon by media everywhere and he has since been the target of some very soft MRP decisions. Instead of the Swans standing by their man, they've taken a soft option, accepting and telling Goodes he has to change. The reason he is so hard to match up on is that he is tall, fast, and athletic. If he stops hitting packs at pace, he will become far less effective, or have to play outside. If you're happy to cop that, well fine, but the footy I played carried risks, putting your head over the ball carried risks, that's what makes it courageous. Sure, protect him from getting his neck broken, but it's got ridiculous.Comment

Either way, I'm still with him on this. If it was Goodes' body and Franklin's head people would be wanting No.37 suspended for life or sent to jail, yet he can get decapitated and nothing even gets said. If Goodesy's were bad, so was Franklin's. And Buddy has form too."It's up to the rest of the players in the room to make a new batch of premiership players next year," Adam Goodes, triple Bob Skilton Medallist, October 7, 2011.

there have been many many other soft reports and suspensions for other teams as well.
Goodes has to learn to hit the packs at the ball, not the man. I agree that amons suspension was pretty hefty, and that sort of action a few years back would've been worthy of a free kick only, but I can't cop that the afl are out to get us. that's as silly as the afl buying us a falg in 2005.Comment
